Do you know someone that had a bad experience? How would you suggest they leave the store with their bag?

I could have bought an almost brand new and full set 6263 Daytona for €14k in 2009, but decided to walk away despite almost agreeing on a deal.

Selling a watch to a TRF member and Rolex announcing a significant price increase a few days after!

I sold my 1,5 year old 116710LN just a few days before baselworld, thinking that there would be a new version with updated movement, and therefore thought the price would remain unchanged or perhaps even drop slightly with a new release. So far it seems that have cost me around 3k

Selling my vintage Rolex collection of 10 watches and 2 tudor for a bergain, 4 years ago. And not buy a Sea Dweller because the letters was writing on red and I wanted white. Yes..... I did that.

Passing on a BNIB 116520 White dial in December 2016 from an AD; their last one received.

I was set on purchasing the black dial but didn't know Rolex could/would swap the dials. Sigh...

Looking back on it now, the seller who is still in business, probably picked up on my total lack of knowledge at the time and having done some further research, I was clearly not alone in that regard. Anyway, you live and learn and I have never got caught out like that since!
Just adding to this, the second and hopefully last dumb thing was flipping a very nice GMT2 a few years back. Made up for it though with these two!

So, hiding your purchases from your wife?

The wife and I were having a pendant made by a jeweler that I buy some watches from.
We usually chat about a few different things, and I always ask him if he has gotten any new (used) watches.

All of a sudden he says, "I sure wish we could have kept that platinum Patek, we sold you."

Whoops, didn't tell the wife about that one. I had traded gold for it, so not like there was a bunch of money that disappeared out of our account.

Even she knows what Patek is and platinum to boot. So, of course when we get out of the store.
"What is this about a platinum Patek?"
Me: "Oh, it was one I got alongggg time ago." And just acted like it was something that I may have bought before we got married.

Buying a 1655 explorer in the early 2000s right out of HS for $3000 and reselling it for a quick buck ($6000). It was mint. Can’t even look at the listings now.

The 116520 was a once in a lifetime. I got mine 4 years ago for $11,000. Don’t think this will happen again. Everyone thought it would tank when the LN was announced.

Yep I’m still salty. Still not over it to this day. Watch had some swirls around the bracelet but a cape cod polishing will definitely take care of it.

I sold my Rolex ref. 1603. It was my father's watch that he gave me.
I deeply regret this after he passed.

There are many but mine pale in comparison to what some other members have sold over the years. You can’t go backwards so it’s not worth sweating it.
