It was worn by one of the guys in Steve Carrel's posse during the movie (Casey Groves perhaps?) It was an OysterQuartz like the one below, or an even rarer DateJust in an OysterQuartz case:

I did a quick Big Short google image search and did not see a shot, but if you ever see the movie again, it's in there....

SD 4000 and sub have same dial at 40mm
If anything , sub C would look larger than SD4K dus to maxi case with large lugs

Good catch on the Oyster Quartz. That one got a lot of close-up time as well.

Don Johnson not a real actor? I'd be willing to have that conversation with you, and I'll even buy the first three beers.

But I don't want to go OT in this thread and bore everyone else to death.

@kingSubTT: I had a to laugh. Is this supposed to be "definitive." Because, on my screen, not only can I not make out the reference, but the dial looks white.

It is. When he moves his hand, the dial turns black, but the cyclops disappears.

I saw the film, and I agree with you. As near as I can tell, it looks like some kind of a Sub Date.

But if somebody walked in the door and showed me the very watch, and it turned out to be a black bezel insert GMT IIc, I wouldn't be too surprised.

If I recall correctly, she has the back engraved on the DSSD for him, which to my knowledge, is impossible. You can't engrave it per Rolex guidelines. But I guess any things possible...in movies.

The dials aren't 40mm, that's the case size. I believe the Sea-Dweller's dial is 1mm smaller than the Submariner dial.

Richard from Gas Monkey wears a DSSD, he has several nice time pieces, but seems to favor the DSSD.

I think it was a new Submariner, which was a mistake for the time the movie take place in. The watch had a cyclops on it. And the bracelet stood out more vs maxi case. Anyway, just my theory, ive been wrong on these before. Another one was Oyster Quartz from the Stever Carell HF team.

Btw, the movie is in a different league to Wolf of Wallstreet. You want good writing and finance film? Watch Too Big to Fail and Margin Call. Those were great because there was no stupid love story made into it so that people could "relate to it". The way Big Short makes it easier to understand for non finance guy the concepts discussed was way more interesting too, i might add.

Ryan Seacrest at the Detroit Auto Show Ford announcement Monday Jan 11. Looks like a pre-Zenith Daytona.
