And because the ss models were more valuable, they became more desirable in the US.
Doesn't any body remember how hot the Explorer was?
That was all Japan. A popular actor wore the Explorer and it became the watch for Japanese to wear. It drove up the global market for them.
Same with the SS Daytona.

That is correct, Ken Takakura. Think the movie "Black Rain" with Michael Douglas.

I have seen Ken Takakura's Explorer under glass at a vintage watch shop here. With a letter from him.　It is not for sale.
