I'll be 55 next month. Bought my first Rolex when I was 50.

Turned 60 a few months back. Got my first at 59. Got my second at 59. I'm overdue for the third.
Have admired them for decades, wanted one for twenty years.
Wish I had started sooner.

The age range you become a Rolex enthusiast and the age range you can afford one are not often the same.

Bought my first on my 24th Birthday.
Turning 25 soon, and already added a PP 5711 as an early 25th Birthday .
My GF threatened to leave me if I add one more in the next two years "at least".
I've already started looking for a replacement.

You were right about me 58!!! But better question is what age were you when you got your first Rolex? Even then my first was at 40, those darn med school loans !!

I'm 39. I started in my late 20's with a Breitling and Omega PO. My first Rolex was a SS Daytona at 33yo. I've dabbled with a couple of other brands but then back to Rolex, picking up 2 more in the last year.

There is much truth to this. I knew about Rolex when I was young but was not part of the affluent community so I never actually saw one in person. Never even felt comfortable going into AD that carried them.

The first time they were really on my radar was when Rolex ran an add with a DD with pave diamond dial and had emeralds or rubies (cannot remember for sure which is was) and diamonds around the bezel and face. I could not imagine the royalty class person that could ever posses such an exquisite piece. Never really forgot that moment.

That was at the beginning of my career and things progressed nicely so today, if really wanted all of that zing, I could probably buy it but my taste is somewhat more reserved. I do have a DDII YG and Platona but my other 4 watches are more conservative.

This is so true. I remember buying a Raymond Weil in my early 30's because I didn't like Rolex at the time, for some reason. What a moron I was…could have had a classic Sub!

38 now. First Rolex at 33, second at 35. Now Rolex-less but prefer to wear a Tudor instead. Been heavy into watches since early 20s...

61, first Rolex at 26 in '79 when most were around $850 for sports models and that was a fortune for a watch.
