Many good guesses, nothing more to add based on those pics.

Why would Rolex issue a new Exp. II just two years shy of its 50th anniversary? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait?

If you go to the site itself it’s actually a short video clip. You can see the seconds markers on the edges of the dial which aren’t not seen in the pics posted here. It’s clewrly a gmt, sub, YM or explorer I with date added. Explorer 2 says the word explorer 2 underneath. You can also tell from the clip it’s a polished case.

Re the shooting star, I actually think that’s a line of the case being drawn or visualized. Given it’s a black dial and polished case, it’s likely not a sub as that case is brushed. It’s either hinting at a new GMT model (ie coke) or LN which we’ve expected or quite possibly a date on a explorer 1 or a YM.

I was expecting a ceramic bezel Explorer II. I'm trying to figure out if there is any sign referring to ceramic in the teaser. At first glance, there is no particular sign referring to that.

The shooting star looks like a rocket blasted off from the earth, hence blue sky towards the dark. I'm pretty sure it's not the case line being drwaed.

Good observations, but if it's a single model in the video, it cannot be a GMT, since that's not the right lug for a GMT. Only the YM has a lug like that, which means it's either a YM, or a model redesigned to look like a YM - or a completely new model that has the same lug profile as the YM. Since the GMT was redesigned last year, we can rule it out. The simplest answer is it's a YM. (Unless there are multiple models in the video, which I doubt.)

Teaser on Instagram shows highly polished lugs.. Maybe a Space dweller...

Based on teaser, highlight of year will likely not be the professional model release. YM while interesting not a showstopper. I’m betting on a sleeper datejust or daydate being the true highlight

Doesn't matter how many new watches are announced, the way Rolex work, availability will be five years down the line.

When googling a little this came up, release for first Milgauss with faraday cage. Highly doubt that it has anything to do with this release though.

"As the 1950s brought more opportunities to utilize electricity in research work environments, Rolex responded with the 1958 release of the 6541 Milgauss. This watch, the first ever Milgauss, was supported by a Faraday cage"

"The auction also included a selection of Rolex watches that belonged to Hillary, including a 1953 reference 6084 that was presented to him after his descent from the summit. He subsequently wore the watch during the Trans-Antarctic Expedition via the South Pole in 1958."

that was my first thought although now im not so sure. It looks like the case in a shadow that is being rotated. where the bracelet attaches looks pretty thin though so could be rubber i suppose.

Aren't those hands definitely gloss black or is there some major shadow trickery going on?
