Wow, as with many threads nowadays this one is going sideways fast.

If we take everything at face value, I would love to hear the outcome of this. It should be a very easy fix by taking it back to the AD.

OP, just needs to call up his acquaintance at the AD and have them help sort it out. Regardless of when the defect was noticed or when the mechanical issue occurred, it should be under warranty and can be fixed via the AD sending it to the RSC or sending it to the RSC directly.

And as a lot of members have experienced, it isn't always the easiest dealing with the AD as half the time they are clueless themselves or even defensive and would defer to the RSC. I trust his friend at the AD can bridge a better gap if he can leverage that relationship.

This was not necessary.
No worries. I pointed that each letter of Rolex should always be on top each black printed minute mark. Only the serial number of the watch does not match the marks which is normal. The letters at the photo do not match each mark. Some of them match but some dont.

Looks real to me, if the marks bother you then take it to RSC, they will fix or replace it under warranty.

Thrilling drama - real or not I’m curious how this turns out. Don’t know enough about this matter to offer an opinion either way !

Hope you find a good resolution either way OP.

Fakery... Don't even make sense to ask something like this in a watch forum..... You pick the watch and go asap to your AD and ask for a deep inspection.... To me very strange tale... Also the red letters looks off to me

If it bothers you enough to ask here OP, dig out your warranty card and go have it made perfect for you. If real, you paid enough for it that you deserve perfection. Go get it.

If it's fake, the Rolex Service Center will let you know, I'm certain of that.

I brought it today to the RSC in Paris, should take apprx 2 weeks to have it checked.
Thank you everybody for having taken the time to share your opinions about my problem! I really appreciate it.

For a few of you calling it a fake, I have some online learning material about the brand, it would be great for you to start 2020 with finally some virtual knowledge about watches!

Cheers

Good move for finally taking it to RSC OP.
Hope they can help sort it out for you.
Such a pity you were subjected to some unpleasantness here.

Good you took it to them. How did they react?

The much vaunted Rolex QC appears to have suffered a lapse in this instance.

Well you should have done that before posting here (be check in RSC). But claiming that it was purchased from the AD, its very uncommon that you went on that path. Goodluck to you anyway. We hope its not fake

are you sure it is marks on the dial and not just plastic material in there, I once had an explorer that had what looked like clear plastic stuck between the inside of the crystal and the case, I thought it was a scratch until I sent it in for service and it seemed like they used tweezers to pull it out leaving some remnants in there....not sure if they use a film to cover the crystals prior to installation or something.

Hope that the outcome from RSC meets your expectations.

As for the overly pessimistic discourse from some people, your watch’s dial in all the pictures (except first macro’s) don’t appear to have anything wrong with the dial. But if RSC finds imperfections then they likely occurred during assembly and you’re going to get a new dial installed at no charge.

Oh, and the extra scratches you’ll notice on the lugs and bracelet will be at no charge either...just saying it sometimes happens.

Good luck and hope it's back soon so you can enjoy it.

As I said in the PMs, there are a lot of trolling posts that show up here and regulars sometimes get a bit aggressive when they perceive that.

But it is a fun forum.

Do not use the chronograph. Send it for service. I had this happen on a chrono once before and it lead to the sweep hand falling off inside the dial and rattling around in there

We will see. There is still no proof whatsoever.
There is a photo of the watch on a table...

We will see when he gets it back.

Either this is a really good fake and/or the OP is using this forum to test the members so he can feel good about his purchase.

OR it's a real Daytona that Rolex put together poorly.

The girl had no reaction, it was apparently the first time she saw a spot like that on this model's dial!

Thanks for sharing this, I am quite sure it was not. It was very similar to a mark a finger could leave, just 10 times tinier. The kind of thing that is hardly noticeable, but the second you do you can't forget about it

Thank you for your message! Should be an easy fix. I thought about the extra scratches the second she put the watch in a position where the bracelet was rubbing the caseback.. as long as they are not too deep!!!

Did that happen on your 116500? If so, did it happen only when the reset button wasn't fully unscrewed? And is it now fixed? The girl at the RSC told me it was normal because the mechanism wasn't fully functional this way, but I was surprised since I was expecting the chronograph to not reset AT ALL if not fully functional, rather than resetting 10 or 20 seconds randomly ...

Thank you everybody

I am quite sure you will understand that I won’t send you my invoice, papers nor guarantee number in order to prove something I already know, to someone I have never met. We live in an age where it is quite easy to learn online about pretty much anything, and it has become everyone’s duty to do its homework before making any type of statement.
