Rolex applying to Swiss government to (partially) reopen so they can move stock?

I heard that Rolex will be applying to the Swiss government for an exemption so that they can reopen the factories at partial capacity with the main purpose to ship the stock they have in their vaults. Thoughts on this?

Implications for supply/availability in ADs? (Although I wonder how sales would work as, at least in my part of the world, all ADs are closed currently).

I don’t care what anyone says. Nobody is going to be buying a Rolex at the rate they previously were.

Rolex knows their distribution channels will be hurting and ADs that are trying to survive (the smaller shops) will not give a rats butt about pleasing Rolex and abiding by their rules even if it means losing AD status.

Rolex knows this, they have to get product out the door. I hear a lot of people here saying that their Rolex purchasing isn’t affected by the current situation and I call BS.

I am partially retired at 32 with exactly $0 debt and I mostly live off the family investment properties when I’m not building e-commerce platforms.

We are all scared and holding on to our cash. If a brand new Hulk fell on my lap today at MSRP I wouldn’t buy it.

It was a good run for Rolex, Greys and ADs shoving pearls and emeralds down peoples throats in exchange for a BLNR.

It's a bit odd, given all the ADs are closed.

Direct to the grey market dealers. Cutting out the ADs.

I highly doubt Rolex cares.

For a number of years now Rolex reps would walk into an AD and force them to follow whatever crazy guidelines they came up with.

This includes accepting whatever inventory they wanted to throw at them and remodels with their approved vendors sometimes costing millions of dollars.

They probably think ADs will simply do the same now. I can think of at least 2 or 3 ADs local to me that aren’t big enough to deal with this blow and will somehow refuse the shipments or get the stuff out of the door ASAP in order to survive. Is Rolex going to respond by pulling AD status to hundreds around the world ?

Rolex ADs in the USA will do what restaurants are doing now.....you order your Rolex online or over the phone & pay.
Drive to AD curbside delivery, roll passenger side window down, they drop bag on seat!

Not gonna happen as these ADs are supposed to be CLOSED (as in no employees in the office closed), at least in the SoCal area.

Three AD's have emailed me that even if closed, will ship any watch that I might be interested in, if they have it, or words to that effect.

Most ADs are closed and no one to speak of would be buying right now anyway so I don't believe it.

I do not think Rolex is shipping to US or Europe anymore.

China just removed the lockdown. So, Chinese are start buying again.

Grey market price will see a dip now but it will bound back very soon.

I heard some ADs are taking deposit for watches they have in their safes. If you are the lucky one, you will get a call. When stores opened, you just pay for the remaining then the watch is yours.

If you are lucky, your AD might call you soon. ADs in US are receiving more HULK than before. Rolex tends to ship more HULK to Asia before the Covid-19.

Probably fake news. You think with the CoViD situation in EU right now, Rolex itself or the Swiss government think about moving stock???

Called an AD just yesterday I have been dealing with for a few months, trying to source a Sub no date... asked about Hulk availability in light of the uptick of Hulk incomings on here. His advice, three-year wait, after a wait to get on his list. I could purchase $100k in jewelry first, I guess - that would help.
