Does anybody have a specific preference for paper? If so, please share. At this time I am in the market for high quality envelopes and thank you notes. If you could drop a line or two about your experiences with this, I'd highly appreciate that.

Are you using a fountain pen? If so, I have tried the usual Rhodia/Clairefontaine/HP32 lb laserjet paper and in the end I found that I much preferred the Japanese papers. Take a look at Kokuyo Campus or Midori letter writing pads/envelopes - they will not disappoint. Oh, and I would strongly recommend against Crane and Co paper for fountain pens - the textured paper doesn't play well with nibs. If you are using a rollerball/ballpoint/felt-tip pen etc., disregard the above advice. Cheers! http://www.jetpens.com/

Thank you. I am a fountain pen fanatic, so no ball(ers) for me. Good point about Midori, there is a store nearby and I'll hit it up.

For office and business note taking, I love the quality and value for momeu of Rhodia.

It seems that they have 80 and 90 gsm varieties. In my experience I can write on both sides of the paper with a Montblanc O3B and have no worries. Also I find that the nib flows very smoothly on the paper surface.

I like anything Tomoe River paper.

It is a thin as onion skin, but I can't get it to bleed through. Wet inks do take a little more time to dry, but it is a superb quality.

I do all my journaling on clairefontaine and it's been great. I use Rhodia at work. No problems with either. Shimmering inks might be a little better on Rhodia. Rhodia seems to show the high saturation reds highlights in some inks better like J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor and Diamine Sargasso Sea.
