Unexpected SURPRISE !

Stopped into my AD today to pick up a "gift from PP"... A great travel case from the purchase of a 5960A-010 last month. While I was there I mentioned that I was looking for a 5711R. An hour later he called me and said he was 99% sure that he could get me one. OF COURSE, I could not say no. The AD I deal with has 4 locations, and the watch will be here in 2 days. I've purchased 3 PP's from them prior... Can't help but wonder, are they holding watches for their "good customers"??? I ask this because this has been the case with the 5711 (granted this was 2 years ago), 5960, and now the 5711R. Believe me, I'm not complaining. Just very coincidental! I guess the moral of the story is, establish a relationship with the same AD and don't be afraid to ASK.

My understanding from my AD is they can only hold these popular pieces like Nautilus and Aquanaut for 2 weeks. The date of distribution from Patek agent to the AD, and the date of the sales of these pieces to customers are both tracked by the Patek agent.

Agree with you on having good AD relationship. The initial connection was painful but the fruits are there eventually.

Also money. Money helps.

The Submariner is, in my belief, the quintessential timepiece for many. When my mind thinks of the word 'watch,' it is a Submariner I see."

Is your AD in the US? Obviously not looking for specifics but I agree with the OP that all the good pieces sit in the safe waiting for the “right customer”

based on your user name, are you a professional athlete? I think that would help with allocation as well. Gives visibility to the brand

About two months ago the AD near me had a 5711r sitting in the display case. I thought only the SS was difficult to get?

Congrats to the OP.
My AD holds pieces for months until a good client expresses an interest, they have no time limit.

Will holding onto a popular piece by your AD affects the chance of an allocation of a new piece (same model) from the agent?

I didn’t know about “they can only hold these for 2 weeks”, but I like the idea

LOL. Not a pro athlete. Played some competitive golf a LONG time ago. Back then the tour guys didn't have watch deals with Hublot, Rolex, AP, RM, etc. These guys have it pretty good!
