5711 white vs 5164R

Hello folks,

I’ll keep it short.

Which would you chose if price difference was about 6-7k (5711 being the 6-7k cheaper) given my collection and why?

I’ll say I’m a sucker for lightweight thin watches. So I’m not willing to sell my 5167 or 5712. But I want a something different that I think both the white dial or a bit of “color” might be able to give me.

Thanks for your input and opinions!

If you like light-weight and thin watches then the 5711 (white) is your answer.

5164R. The white dials don't do it for me, they lack the effects other colours come with. And the dark brown dial/bracelet/rg combo is a classic match, that Patek did perfectly for the Aquanaut. Plus, you already have a 5711, so benefiting of the GMT function by adding the 5164R seems just right for your collection.

One Aqua is enough for me so I'd get the white 5711 and trade the 67a to a 64a.

Since you already have the 5711/blue and 5712A, adding the 5164R will make more sense. A new RG metal and also a GMT makes a very well rounded PP collection.

I don’t think he has the 5711 blue. I think his signature is indicating he is seeking a 5711 white and now he’s entertaining going for a 5164R instead.

Personally I’d stick with the 5711 white as I prefer the steel.

Personally I’d branch out and get an AP 15202 - it is a staple in any collection and compliments the Nautilus line well.

Just my .02

Going to go out on a limb here - mix up the brands. Note that I have 5711a and 5711R and a JLC Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon and....I'm in love with my Grand Seiko Snowflake...the white dial on this is freaking amazing. And its $5k. Titanium = lightweight. Its 41mm and 12.5mm thick so a little larger but its the same weight as your aqua and the finishing is superb. The horological significance of the Spring Drive with the EEERILY SMOOTH GLIDING blue hand on textured snow dial is a must have in my humble opinion.

I also support getting an AP maybe 37mm or 39mm.

5711 white since you don't have a white dial it seems.. good luck! It's a great problem to have!

I concur. Grand Seiko watches are amazing esp for the price. I own three of them. Sadly many people still reject them off hand because of the Seiko name.

I do not and really enjoy many of their watches. They are severely under rated.

I was into GS for awhile. That was a brief and expensive affair.

I’d get the steel watch of the two OP listed.

The white 5711 (aka Piano dial) is just beautiful and I would choose it over the 5164, even though I love all Aquas too.
