As a few above have said, if they are into watches a sub, if not I'd go datejust.

but...... dare i say it, their age could be a consideration?

This maybe controversial but if they are 60+ then I'd go for the datejust regardless of whether they are into watches

What's the work environment like? Shirt and tie or more casual? If it's a more formal work environment I'd go with the DJ. If more casual go with the Sub.

This was along the lines of my thinking when I suggested an OP. The new black or white stick dialed OP would be very nice and appropriate.

Sub for sure. A very generous boss you are. I’m sure most of us would love to work for you. Really hope this turns out well for you both and your employee appreciates your kind gesture.

If its for an employee, you need to go with Datejust 2. Simple choice.. unless your company is related to sporting activity. Datejust is perfect daily work wear watch from Rolex over Sub no date. Also, having no date are not everyone's personal choice and if it is 1st Rolex, I would think he would like a date as well. My clear choice - Datejust 2

I suspect that most people would prefer cash.

Especially if you want or need to follow the law and consider this part of his compensation, which is taxable.

Depends on your industry IMO. If you're in a business/dress environment perhaps the DJ2 would work better, but of course a ND Sub can pull off dressy occasions too.

Imagine if you have two employees to reward and one you know loves the look of the Daytona and you can get him one, do you? And then give the other a Sub, which he prefers the look of, but neither of them know of their resales... and then what happens when they both do...

TRF I need your advice !!

I just bought my best employee a DJ blue dial with stick markers, smooth bezel and Jubilee bracelet. A stunning watch! My employee has been with me 25 years.
