Icon5 Trying to get a price on a Rolex Submariner 1680

Hello,
I traded a 1680 Sub to a buddy about 20 years ago. Well he called. He put the watch away after I had serviced it, he's not a watch guy. So now he wants to trade it back to me(not for another watch). I'm trying to come up with a price. But all I can find on 1680's are red dials. Is every 1680 Sub a red dial? So what to be fair should I consider a moderately worn 1975 Sub to be value wise. Thanks to all that respond. Original dial, insert, and band.

Well, I don't have the watch right now. It's 200 miles from me. It's like I gotta do it when I see it.

It seems fair for your friend to put a price on it. You can't buy it AND sell it.

No, but he is an astute investor

No, but the white ones are worth quite a bit less.

That was a bad time to trade that baby away. I can see why you want it back.

Search the classifieds here to see what they’re going for. I think about $9k for poor examples to low $20s for nice ones with b&p.

Without seeing dial, hands, insert and case this is a waste of time

This is a bit like asking "what's a 911 worth"? We need to know the condition, year of production (serial no.), etc. We could get that from pics. You might ask your friend to take nice, clear close-up photos and send them to you so you can post them.

Its like asking what's my white Ford Mustang worth.

There is absolutely no way we can give you an educated value without knowing the condition and originality.

oops sorry @racer beat me to it. I should have read first :(
