Ocean Age is tasty stuff. A local steakhouse has it as an option in one of their specialty old fashions. I also like it neat or with a large ice cube.

I have voyage 14-16 I believe. All excellent.

Picked these up today. Taylor was on sale for $40. Woodford Oat is supposed to be in high demand. The 1792 full proof is a barrel select. And the owner gave me a Blanton’s display stand as a gift.

I’ve seen it anywhere from $65-75 around here.

Edit: I take back the $65....was just re-thinking the prices I’ve seen.
Also, I’m not sure I buy into the ocean hype

This seemed like the right whisky for a Polar Explorer II on an early spring day.

Is it a good bourbon to try? I only have Scotch and have tried a lot of japanese as well. Would like to try a bit of bourbon.

Of course, taste is subjective, but I happen to like all the Jefferson offerings. This one in particular is easy to drink and priced right for a starter bourbon.

This is going to be the Bourbon of the Year for 2019.

Better than the 2016 Limited Rye. Fantastic Stuff.

I have one coming now at slightly above MSRP.

Get one now if you don't. Will be a $800 bottle soon.

So here is a question...how do I get a bottle of pappy without paying 1,000+ a bottle? I live in Ohio so all bottles are strictly done through a lottery system and I have never won...I really am not even set on any vintage.

Any advice would be greatly appreciate!!!

Very difficult to score a 15 20 or 23 unless you buy a ton of liquor from a store and have a relationship. If you’ll settle for old rip 10 or VWSR 12 you can get a taste for 4-500.

I found a new bar a few blocks from my house offering Old Rip 10 for $15 per 2-2.5 oz pour, and VWSR 12 Lot B for $22/ 2-2.5oz pour. It's otherwise impossible to find in my area, and if you do, it's double that price. Same with Pappy; the bars buy their stock at secondary, so a taste is an arm and a leg... We just don't get a lot of it up in Northern Nevada, since the majority of the allocations go to Vegas (go figure...).

It’s good. The oat is kind of like wheat and it mellows the finish. I paid more than that and I’m happy with it.

I thought about picking this up just to see what it was about, but the local area state stores sell it for $129. Probably not worth that much for me.
I’ll have to keep an eye out when I hit a whisky bar.
I was going to pick up a bottle of Blantons as well but it sold out in less than 2 hours. :(

definitely try it. FWIW, I paid $99. value is so subjective since pricing is so crazy these days. there is good stuff for less (including Blanton's), but high end and limited releases are generally into the triple digits, at least that's how it seems.

That’s a fair price for those at a bar. I’d probably order if I saw that price given cocktails and beers are 10 bucks anyways

My thoughts, as well. If I'm paying $14 for a glass of Bogle Pinot Noir or $15 for the Ol Rip, I'd take the whiskey any day. I, too, see beer (especially craft beer) creeping up. These little trendy micro breweries will sell a less-than-stellar, just-OK Saison or heavy IPA for $11 for a 10-oz pour. I've definitely found myself pulling away hard from ordering beer when I'm out, unless I'm eating burgers or pizza.

Good stuff. One of my daily pours. I'm currently on the hunt for a 10-year old Single Barrel. They stopped making it several years ago, but supposedly it's worth the search.

A little “state of the collection” of my bourbon bottles. Terrible picture, I apologize; I’m no photographer. (I have some extra bottles of Blanton's, Weller SR, and Belle Meade Cask Strength stashed away in the pantry, as well...) Second one was last night, Blanton’s in my new Blanton’s glass. My toddler actually left me alone and let me have a drink after work. He was busy watching Moana for the third time that day.
