My beloved AD latest Rolex victim
They sent a shipment of stock on a Monday then sent a letter later in the week basically saying “ you will not be an AD after April 30th”. They were already 10s of thousands into a remodel just to please Rolex which is lost now. This AD is a super nice honest business; it really angers me they are doing this to so many.

Whilst I understand your anger, you do not have all the information as to why Rolex made their decision.

Sorry to hear that. Seems like this is starting to become a common occurrence unfortunately.

One of the possible reasons of the closure could be selling to the greys.

Damn this is crazy stuff. My birthplace Rolex AD just got cut by Rolex as well. They now are a grey dealer and sell preowned Rolex. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were selling to the grey market, they didn’t do a ton of business.

Hard to do a lot of business when your supplier isn’t supplying. I feel for these ADs

It makes me cringe when people adopt an extremely low resolution interpretation to decipher a complex issue.
Do you have all the inside communication between the AD and Rolex leading up to the event? Please share more if you want people convinced the anger towards Rolex is justified. |

Reducing the number of AD’s and creating (presumably) a larger Rolex presence in those that remain would give more control to Rolex. They are never going to completely control the grey market but the surviving AD’s will be really afraid of losing their now larger and more lucrative franchise which will definitely cut into grey sales. I’m sorry to hear about your AD getting cut out but it’s just not all that surprising.

I don’t think he sold to “greys” and had a very strong customer base. The business has been in the family for multiple generations. And families of multiple generations were customers. I think Rolex is following other luxury brands with redirecting to large corporate boutiques thereby cutting out dealers. It’s sad.

Again, sorry to hear about this type of place losing their agency. It can be what keeps a mom and pop store in business. But as said, I doubt we know all the facts. |

It’s not just a consolidation but also a redistribution as they are also licensing new locations as well. It’s Rolex and I’m sure there is a well thought out business plan for it

Well let’s say I am a gray dealer and I waltz into a boutique, Rolex is not going to let me buy 10 datejusts or Cellini’s and then several BLRO’s and Daytona’s at a volume discount. And then give me preference and first dibs each time I come in. Gray market thrives as the ad can unload unsold and unpopular stock, and then give preference to those folks due to the volume. |

A AD here said Rolex wanted them to find a new location or they take back the dealership. Which makes it hard to find a good location that does not have a Rolex AD already. So boom, they’re clearing out their Rolex stock at a slight discount.

Depends, if it is directly owned by Rolex then, I’m not up in my law, but saying your out of stock and feeding gray market, I’m not even sure that is legal. And even if it is, if found out would be a black mark on one of the most respected brands in existence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I would also like to know which Houston dealers are gone. Last one I noticed was Ben Bridge at Memorial City Mall late last year but I don't get there much.

Based on discussions I have heard around town:
In the last 5 years: Ben Bridge - Galleria Tourneau - Galleria Jared - Multiple (All?) In the last year: Ben Bridge - Memorial City Karot 22 - Hillcroft ??? - The one referenced by the OP Others have been rumored but I don't know for sure yet.

Ben Bridge in Willowbrook kept their AD status and that's the worst mall in Houston, so there goes that theory. Now Ben Bridge Galleria I could see only because it is close to the Boutique because they carry most of the other high end watch brands. As far as I know Jared was never an AD.

I love how we kept getting new threads of my ad lost their Rolex license, but no one ever name drops their name.
