Lange Saxonia Moonphase vs 1815 Chrono

Looking to buy my first Lange. I’ve always admired them but they were never on my list until this weekend. I tried on the Saxonia Moonphase and 1815 Chronograph. I was blown away by both of them. The finishing and feel were incredible. I currently own a PP Nautilus and AP ROC so looking to add a dress watch.

Has anyone looked at both? Why did you choose one of the other and did you have any regrets? Thanks!

I'm not sure that many compare these two watches, as they are quite different in terms of looks, complications, and movements. I would choose whichever appeals to you more. Regardless, Lange makes a superb watch and either will be in a league above your Nautilus and your Royal Oak.

As the others have said, they are incredible watches so you can’t really go wrong. I went for the moonphase partially because I already have several chronos (and nothing with a moonphase) and I am also a sucker for the date at 12 o’clock. Go with what speaks to you, but that moonphase on the far right is stunning!

I love the moonphase in WG, so that would be my choice. It's also a more standard "dress watch" to me than the 1815 chrono.

Also, maybe it's just me, but the sub dials of the chrono being slightly below the midpoint of the dial irks me. I'm sure im in the minority though.

Thanks for the advice. I’m leaning towards the moonphase. For some reason it just speaks to me. The only concern is that even though it’s only 1mm bigger than the chrono it seem much larger on my wrist.

How about the movement? Which ones builds up nicer through the caseback?

I like the 1815 chrono the best out of the choices. However if I wanted a Lange with a moon phase complication, I'd go with the Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase.

You’ll be fine if you move it up your arm 1/2 an inch.

The watch also looks 'larger' because of the more open dial in my opinion. That said, I know what you mean. When I was choosing between the MP vs the Outsize Date, it was amazing to me how much the 1.5 difference showed more on the wrist than on paper.
But I wouldn't sweat it...you're seeing the difference now because they are side by side. Once you only have one, you won't be able to tell the difference I think.

And yes, while I love the 1815 (would love to own one one day), I think the big date function is quintessential Lange.
