Seriously considering an omega given the limited availability of rolex

Whats supply been like of late for Omega?

2 years back i was offered 25% off retail with 0% finance from an AD dor a grey side of the moon.

Been looking at the DSOTM and the new seamaster with wave on dial.

Whats the general consensus on ceramic watches?

Anything I need to look out for?

Or do i wait for new seamaster and try on? Should i expect a huge wait and 0 discount given its a new watch?

If so what sort of discount could I expect in todays market on a DSOTM ?

Love the all black and black strap but in two minds about how thick the watch is?

For those that have had a DSOTM and wore on a daily what are your impressions?

I have worn my DSOTM now for a couple of years in regular rotation. I absolutely love it. Still looks brand new and always a pleasure to put on the wrist. Secondary market seems to have these pretty settled at around the $7k(ish) range which I personally think is good value for what you're getting.

I also had the opportunity recently to see and try on the new SMs. They are very nice, good looking, and comfortable. They are also mostly well below the price of a DSOTM.

My personal thought is that if you already own and enjoy a Sub, the SM may be too similar. I would go for an xSOTM as it's an amazing line of watches and very different then what you currently own.

I'm intrigued by the GSOTM.

I have owned several GSOTM watches and really like the photographs more than the watch in person. It wears fine and has almost no weight to it. That is a plus if you are so inclined and a minus if not. Each time I own it for a while it does not get the amount of wrist time a watch that expensive should and I move on. The strap is also narrow if you are used to wearing a thicker strap. I would recommend a Speedmaster in the same 44.25 size and Co-Axial Movement but in steel or titanium. For me it feels better on the wrist and the metal bracelet is more substantial. It also allows you to switch out the steel for NATO or leather. I would not buy an Omega new unless the discount was at least 30-35% off on a regular production watch. Most Omega's can be found slightly preowned in the 45-50% off range.

Rolex does not want your money anymore, time to support another brand. I would personally wait to see the new Seamaster in person, it looks to be a fantastic watch.

Hmmm - DSOTM as a daily maybe a little lacking .. not water tight and no date. However I love wearing wearing it in my rotation. For a daily I recommend Sapphire version of DSOTM even though the Hesalite looks better. I have no issues with the thickness of my DSOTM .. I bought my Hesalite from Jomashop with the Leather Strap and added a display case back. They are like 35% off MSRP at Jomashop.

Personally I'd rather have a Rolex Sub over a Seamaster ..

Will deffo be swapping out straps if i get an omega... off shopping this weekend... time for an addition

I believe you are thinking of the Speedmaster Pro. The Dark Side of the Moon (DSOTM) have the date and only come with sapphire on both the dial side and case back.

Tried on DSOTM and GSOTM many times at the omega boutique.. however it is just sit too high on the wrist for me. The back of the case just make the watch look too thick on my wrist. I have small wrist. Certainly try one out before you buy.
