No Love for the 233

Since the 312 has come out, there has been little love shown for the 233.

I tried one on last week at my AD and love the domed crystal! I actually prefer the dial a lot more than the 312 and 320 as I think any PAM with a seconds hand shouldn't include the arabic numeral on the same side as well.

Much love for the 233 here!

I wish I knew the whole Panerai line better. I like the watches but I am still slowly learning what is what.

Pic is of my old 233. I've gone through 3.

What I meant is, I am in the hunt for another 233 AGAIN.

I tried on both the 312 and the 233 recently and went for the 312 as my first PAM. I liked both but the 312 got it on aesthetics of the dial and slightly less domed crystal. I did like the 233 and if I want a GMT then that would be in the running definitely as it's a great watch.

I LOVE the dome on the 233. However, I went with a 312 for two main reasons:

1) Value - It just didn't make sense for me to pay more for a 233 when the 312 was a gorgeous 1950 case with in-house movement (I wish it had the DOME!)

2) Quality Concerns - I've read more than a few issues with the 233 to make me nervous. I know that those reports still are in the minority of owners and not something that will impact most folks. For that kind of money though, I do not want to have any issues.

Im with Jackson. I initially wanted a PAM233 but for the price charged, I could have other watches on my list like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas GMT or a Jaeger Le Coultre. So I put off buying the PAM233. Then the PAM312 was released and fit the requirement.

I on the other hand do not mind the semi dome on the pam312 as it is a daily watch and already have to watch out, imagine with a super dome.

I think Panerai intentionally put a semi dome on it because it is a daily watch. I would love a super dome in the future, perhaps on a more fancy Panerai.

If I had the option for the 312 instead of the 233 for the price I feel the 312 is a much better value. I would want it to be a manually wound watch. BTW I do love those 312photo shots.

Sorry guys apples and oranges. IMHO the 233 dot is the perfect PAM. Simple good balanced dial with domed x tal. Sure one could argue value but IMHO the 233 is that much more special. The 289 even tops the 233. In the end it is personal choice but I really do not get the comparison. IMHO the 9 looks better on a 47mm watch.

+1 - The one Panerai in my collection that I would not want to live without is my 233. Kind of like my Sea Dweller. Just love them.

Man that's a good looking watch. I'm starting to really enjoy the beauty behind the dome and different dial/case on the 2's and 3's versus the 00's and 1's.

They'll look the same until the Pameritis sets in. Then they'll ALL be different and you will want all of 'em.
