They're probably not worth the £1,500 extra in real terms... however I love my Rolex Explorer... but I am honestly missing having a date...

IMO $6k not enough for a nice SS desirable model.

I say wait till you have 10k to spend, better investment for your money at that level

He's not that far off from a DJ41 with smooth bezel...

Omega Speedmaster Professional, and keep the change. Iconic, durable, and looks amazing on different straps, leather, rubber, and bracelet.

Save up his money and get a new GMT Master II, Submariner, or possibly Datejust 41. A few more thousand isn't going to hurt him.

SS GMT and Sub are very basic looking IMO. DJ41 has a very boring dial variation plus smaller proportions makes it more dressy IMO

Boring dials? Really the sunbursts effects are fantastic. The white is crisp and clean, and the black is well... black.

Not sure what you're expecting? Maybe you're not fond of the battons, if so then diamonds are an option. Also finally on the DJ41 - The wimbledon edition comes with Roman Numerals...

The DJ41 is fantastic and so versatile.

Have you seen them in real life? If not, you should! You're missing out :)

I think you should advise your friend to keep saving money until he can buy a watch that he is truly satisfied with.
