Panerai Black Seal

I just got the 088 and the 164 and they are fantastic watches. I am looking to buy the 183 Black Seal. Does anybody have any experience with these? and how do you like them? Thanks,

shane

The 88 is a beautiful watch. Good luck with them both

The black seal is a nice manual wind Radiomir. Never owned a black seal ( Pam 183) but have held & tried one on.
One thing to note, the straps are 26mm rather than the 24 on your Luminors.

Good point. That means more straps.

How sturdy is the case, i.e. if it is knocked hard will it crack?

I know this was addressed somewhere but can't find the thread... Larry.

Definitely go with the new 292.

It's a black ceramic Black Seal. The dial has the divers diving on the submersible... Totally pimp IMO.

The Black Seal has the SS case, so no issues.
You might be thinking of the new Ceramic 292.
I have heard his ceramic is pretty tough, but will chip if you know it just right ( or wrong).
Not sure if I like this new one yet. All black, black dial, no display back, has a date & is automotic.
Will wait and see when they arrive in the showrooms.
Not trying to sell, but here is a link to a Black Seal FS on another forum. Great picks of front & back.

Actually, I think you might be confusing two different models. They were both announced at the same time.

The 292 does not have a date, and is handwound. Also, it is the ceramic one. (see above)

The Radiomir Cronografo was announced at the same time, which has a steel case, and is automatic.

You are correct, got the two mixed up.
The PAM287 is the SS auto with the date.
Maybe wishful thinking on my part. LOL

Good luck, at least in the states getting a 292 from an AD or secondary close to list. I heard they are all but spoken for.

183 is a great price though I prefer the 210. It will wear much thinner than your luminors since the case is thinner. Nice watches, historically correct and can be dressed up.

I'd personally wait for the ceramic Marinas... It has been a long time since you could get a black Panerai.

The last was the 195...

A lot of people have been DLC-ing PAM 0 and PAM 5 models.

It is the seconds dial. I ended up buying the limited edition 232!! Great watch. Now I have the best of both worlds, a few Rolex's and a few Panerai!

No, they are numbered in each series, ie...1/1500 Panerai 88's in the J series. Only certain models are limited for a year or so and come in a different presentation box.

They number their models because they only make around 40K watches per year.
