Stranger things: Healing 1680
I'll just start a thread on this to garner more attention.
So, the story goes like this, I have a 1978 sub 1680 that I've had for the past 8 months or so. During this time, I've worn it in a 3 watch rotation, sometimes for days/weeks on end. During this time, the watch has kept PHENOMENAL time. Like +/- 1 second per week good. The watch supposedly had a service done in the past 2-3 years prior to my acquisition of the piece. So fast forward to last week, I hadn't worn the watch for a least 2 days, and it had fully stopped. I pick it up, give it a good wind and set the time and go on my merry way. I immediately noticed the second hand ticking "double time" or at a much faster rate than normal. This observation was confirmed when after around 10 minutes, it had gained about 3... MINUTES! Immediately I think "uh oh, magnetism" and put the watch back in the drawer and changed to something else. This erratic time keeping kept going for the next few days (advancing a full 12-14 hours!) until it finally stopped. Fully planning on taking the watch in to my watch maker, I decided to give it a wind and reevaluate, and to my bewilderment, it was back to normal. I'm wearing it today and it is keeping the same Quartz-like accuracy. Any thoughts as to what could have transpired?? I'm no watchmaker so it seems like: Oh and here's a pic of the watch, since a thread without pics didn't happen... Sent from my iPhone 7 using Tapatalk |

Amongst others I have a seiko skx007 that did that once. Out of no where it just started gaining minutes within a few hours......one swift thump to the side and it was back to normal..
If anyone wants me to regulate their watch I will bring my hammer :-) |

Last time that happened, it was a surveillance truck parked outside that was generating some kind of magnetic field. They may have been trying to steal my thoughts, but more likely someone more interesting was the target. Were there any generator trucks around?
