First impresssions: Vostok Amphibia

Just got it a couple of days ago, the watch runs fine, I will time it closer the following days. The bracelet is a joke, feels like it was made out of recycled soda cans. The clasp is horrible. But the watch itself actually seems quite good. Of course, the price was very right, especially for a 200m diver.

Vostoks are great beaters, they look much nicer on straps because, as you say, the bracelets are horrible. The newest bracelets are better, believe it or not, than they used to be, but that's still not saying much.

Gotta love that wobbly crown!

Not a fan sorry... The red bezel indicators would get annoying. IMO.

I have actually got more comments on this already than I ever got on my 1680.
The red on the bezel is a lot more discrete than it seems from my photo in the first post.

Concerning the bracelet, I really need a replacement, thinking of buying a cheap Seiko just for that. The original has already gotten some stretch! It also pinches the hair on my arm like crazy, they should market it as a hair removal device...

Oh! I forgot to mention, it currently runs at +2 seconds per day, very nice!

I also did not like Bezel.. bought a custom one and installed it myself. The Bezel insert is from a Seiko skx007.... Fits perfect!

It would look cool on a NATO/Zulu or vintage leather strap

I agree, put it on a black nato with blue stripes or vice versa

Update: I just got a solid link bracelet for my Amphibia from Meranom:

http://meranom.com/amphibian-classic...-420-case.html

This is so much better than the original joke! I was in fact so pleased I actually wrote a review...

And a quick photo of the bracelet, it has a satin finish opposed to the polished finish of the watch, but it doesn't distract too much.

Vostok can be a fun addition to a collection of more expensive watches. I bought three about 6 months ago, sold one to someone who liked the one I was wearing and gave to to sons. Then, ordered three more right before Christmas. I removed all of the bracelets and added natos.

I decided I liked the look of the old Pan Am gmt, so ordered a white face, 710 case Amphibia along with a Pepsi bezel from AM Diver. Now, I'll have the look without resorting to an homage. I was concerned that the Amphibia's are so cheap that I wore each one for a while before gifting them, but each has done fine.
