6263 issue when setting..

Hi guys hope you are all well..

Just wanted to ask the experts or any watch makers who might have some advise..

When setting my 6263 its ok setting time pulling out crown and turning clockwise but when I try to wind back (anti-clockwise) nothing happens and it seems the crown is becoming unscrewed. Nothing latches to be able to set time backwards.

Hope this makes sense..

If the crown gets unscrewed, you will need to pull the stem and apply some locktight to the crown - unless you have done that before, I would NOT advise to experiment on 6263 :)

Ive not allowed crown to unscrew fully, tried it a couple times hoping the movement latches but I then just screw the crown back in and set time the long way around.. Just wondering i its something serious which needs a service off the movement?

You do not need to service the movement. For any competent watchmaker, it's a 5 minute fix - perform water proof test, take case back off, unscrew detent screw, pull the stem, reattach the crown (screw on really hard or use a little bit of locktight), put the stem back, screw in the detent screw, put the case back on, perform waterproof case (see the first step). Now, if the watch maker screws up and pushed the stem in too hard and messes up the detent mechanism, he'll have to pull the movement, take ff the hands and the dial, reset everything, ... and hopefully not damage the dial. You might want to replace the case back gasket as well.
