help authentic this Explorer II

Hi everyone. This Rolex showed up on my local CL. no box or paper. Before I head over to look at it in person, does anyone see anything glaringly fake about this? Hand Stack looks good. Ill check SN etc.. when Im I view it in person. Assuming its real, whats a good price, what's a really good price?

Thanks in advance.

Looks good... The only thing that's looking a bit off is the magnification of the cyclops. It's hard to tell from the picture.
5750 would be a fair price given no box or papers

What's with the 12 on the bezel? Also, what's the explanation for no B&P?

Why take the chance. Buy from an established online seller...with box and papers for 6K.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=531245

You should assume every Rolex on CL without box/papers is fake.

I am far from an expert, but there is something that just doesn't feel right with it.

I keep focusing in on the "ROLEXROLEXROLEX" and it looks faintly amateurishly done.

Additionally, to my eye at least, the Rolex and scroll work on the clasp look as if they were done with a laser etching machine like the ones you see in the mall.

Pictures (and the quality of them) can often be misleading, either intentionally or unintentionally. So, for me - remove the case back, then go from there. Otherwise I would NOT buy this watch

I would stay far away from this one. There shouldn't be a space like that where the bracelet and case meet when looking at the caseback. Rehaut engraving doesn't look quite right. Also the black outline on the indices don't look as bold as it should be. Easy pass for me.

Never seen half of a number disappear on the bezel like the 2 in 12. Not saying it doesn't happen, just never seen it. I agree the font on the date looks wrong. Does the seller have a loupe? If so see if you can find the crown etched on the crystal at 6:00.

Generally, if people come here to ask about a watch it's better to avoid buying it. The seller should be trusted 100%, asking here means there are doubts. Trust your gut.

The watch in the pictures is authentic. There are some really great fakes running around today, but if that one is fake it is absolutely incredibly well done. Far better than any of the best fakes I've seen to date. Having said that, we are still only looking at pics and there are no box and papers. It doesn't seem like enough of a discount to account for the obvious flaw and the absence of box and papers. Why not pay just a few hundred more and get one without those issues from a trusted seller?

To clarify, even though it looks real to me, I would still meet at a dealer to have it authenticated before handing over that kind of money.

If your going to spend 000's on this stuff why take a risk for a saving of a few 00's. Buy from an AD you get a receipt, new watch with all new watch parts and a swiped warranty card with your details on it.

The biggest thing is total peace of mind. If you buy in the right way instead of this thread your thread would read my new Rolex. Just saying.

Here is the answer to your question:
For a BNIB 216570 I want to pay no more than $6800 and realistically want to be as close to $6,000 as possible.

If a used one is less than $1000 less, save up the gap and buy a BNIB full set.

Markers look a little thin and the date wheel doesn't look crisp (not to mention the magnification).

The cut outs for the spring bars look like they have been chewed, i have never seen Rolex finish a bracelet like that. I think you should buy elsewhere.

Correct hand stack used to be a good tell but even that has started to be copied now. A lot of other little queries as others have pointed out would suggest you walk away. If in doubt let it go. A good one with b&p can be had for less than 6k from the right dealers here so I'd buy from them if I were you.

Realistically, where are you going to find BNIB close to $6K?

This post should be in the WatchOut section of this forum, not under general forum. If you had it in the proper area, it might be possible that you'd be getting more advice on this.

From my perspective, I think the watch is fake. I also don't think I've ever seen the numbers from an explorer bezel missing filling like that. There's just so much off in my opinion.

I am not an expert, so maybe someone with thousands and thousands of posts who spot these on a regular basis would be better to take advice from.

If it's on Craigslist, meet at a dealer. I'd beat them down on the price because of the condition.

I'm going to have to agree. The numerals on the bezel. The colors. This watch is just not Rolex quality. The rehaut is awful.
