Interested in getting my 1st Paneri (need some help)

I'm new to Panerai and slowly learning. All these PAM numbers seem to be overwhelming to me. Is there some general guide to understand what each digit in the model # means?

I'm looking on getting the 005 or 111. Since those are discontinued, I'm trying to determine the current production equivalent and the change points.

Any suggestions for a 1st PAM?
