Got my GMT IIc today...

I suppose I should be excited, but the lack of discount from local ADs have made me a bit grumpy! The AD from whom I ultimately purchased did offer a watch winder and a free service - both of which are ultimately worth $0 to me, as I don't use the one winder I have at home and recently had my SD serviced. I suppose I should be happy that they at least offered to polish my SD and extend warranty for a year -the one offer I took them up on (extended warranty is ultimately worth $0 to me as well, though).

Pricing aside, am looking forward to wearing the watch. To avoid me wearing if before Christmas, I had it wrapped at the store and will feign surprise when my wife hands it to me at Christmas - LOL. Just like she's promised to act surprised when I hand her the presents she hand-selected a couple of days ago.

Btw - this is the second AD who informed me that Rolex cut 250 ADs from their network in 2011 in the US, partly in an effort to keep prices up. Good for Rolex, I suppose. They also informed that a 10% or so price hike is expected in January. I suppose that's a bit of consolation :)

Congrats!
I was hoping to get 15% off on my GMT as well, but my AD was only willing to do 12% even though I have bought 7 or 8 watches from them.

Thank you all!

Despite the price "issue", I simply wasn't comfortable buying gray. I know there are tons of legit sellers out there (and on this forum), but I recall the doubt that crept into my mind the last time I bought a gray Rolex - including taking it to a local AD that refused to authenticate w/o opening the case back, and then suggesting that'd be expensive due to it being a SD which would require pressure testing etc. 5 years on and with its first service, it was eventually authenticated.

Anyway, with Rolex I'm not prepared to take chances. With most other watches, I am. Ironic, really, as deals available from ADs for most other brands are pretty darned good - with the possible exception of Panerai... But I digress...

Merry Christmas to me.... and you. :)

Let the price thing roll off your back like water off a duck's. You got a GMTIIc!!!

Years from now you'll remember this Christmas. Hope you love the new addition a long time!
