Did you think the Sea Dweller was almost the same thickness as the DSSD? Surely it is 2/3mm thinner.
It is when you hold them side by side, though it's more like 1/2 mm than 2/3.

The SD43 has a much slimmer main case side than the DSSD. However the new SD43's caseback sticks out more than the DSSD's which caused it to "hover" over my wrist much more than the Deep Sea and feel less compact than the latter. This sort of equalled out the difference in feel. I was really surprised how alike they wore overall.

Thank you for the report.
Based on your description the SD 43 is out for me--sitting too high.
Looked at the SkyD last last at the Vegas gtg viewing. Super cool watch, but larger than I expected. I like the white dial in the SS model as well.

I think it's because of the lack of movement and that the bezel is connected to the movement itself for settings.

Awesome pics btw thanks for sharing!

You mean on the Oysterflex? Just as on the metal bracelet.

Interesting info although nothing's on my radar. Thanks for sharing. If I were on the fence with the SD, hearing the new one is taller would have me clamoring for the SD4k even at MSRP.

I always preferred the black dial of the SS SkyD, interesting that the blue didn't blow you away based on the interest on the forum.

Also I would have been like oh crap if I unscrewed the crown into my hand!

For like half a second, that was exactly it, closely followed by "ok, now lets just geeently ease this back into where it belongs before the guy sees what I'm doing to his exhibit..."

Was kind of scared it would fit back in for a second.

Did you try the ring command settings on the sky dweller I don't think it works without the crown unscrewed.

Pretty sure the bezel does turn while the crown is screwed down.

this is the same watch that's been out for years. this is nothing new.

it's only that you can now get a WG and YG to match the RG on strap.

nope, nothing you can do as far as oyster bracelet.

Thank you for all the info and pictures

How did the Stainless Steel DJ 41 mm look in person? Did they have all the dial options there?

Thanks again

We saw the rhodium flat bezel jubilee combo, which clearly was not for me, it lacked the vibrance of the OP39 and was too gray in gray for my taste. Other than that, the white (milky white like the EX II polar) flat bezel oyster bracelet was a quite nice combo, if perhaps a bit boring. The blue one with fluted bezel was nowhere to be seen, but since we were the first ones to drop by just after breakfast, they were just getting started with unpacking the exhibits.

I'm interested for a report on the SD43 bracelet/clasps. Specifically, is the clasp width wider than the Sub & DSSD? I can't believe Rolex would design a new & unique only to the SD wider clasp, but all the official reports keep stating EVERYTHING with the new band/clasp is new & bigger. I get that it's wider at the lugs, but it clearly tapers like all Rolex models...but I'm interested if it tapers to a new clasp width (or if it appears to be the same clasp as the other models)? I'm hoping it's the same width as Sub/DSSD as I personally don't like how Omega's clasps are so wide & combersome & hoping Rolex isn't going that route too. Thoughts?

Sadly, it's exactly as I expected from the start.
I think I won't be adding the SD43 to the stable.
