Video from AP CEO

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rigsCqKsVVw

Highlights:

Ceramic PC requires a new mold for every single watch. That is interesting and obnoxiously expensive to produce.

In house chrono movement is done. It's up to them to decide when they want to release it, but it's finished and ready.

Yep, ceramic is fun to produce.

No one really appreciates what it takes to make those cases.

Molds are a lot less expensive though than entire machines that need to be replaced, like some specialized material CNC machined cases require.

Any chance this devalues the 2385 roc? Hope you guys can chime in. Not really familiar with movement changes to inhouse and how it affected the previous models.

Note to self. Start saving now and don't buy anymore watches.

Is that new mold just for the Ceramic PPC? Or for the 42 and 44mm Ceramic ROOs as well?

He should not say that. Someone will probably try. Esp in China.

You don't need to kill to have a drink with him. Just buy enough AP watches from boutique and gets a private trip to tour AP Geneva. Like what Roger did.

That openworked tourbillon is absolutely mesmerizing. But on a more practical note I look forward to the in house Chrono release. That will be a game changer.

It's too silvery imo; a bit boring. Prefer the non-tourbillion (from a looks' perspective solely). That said; would love to own a tourbillion piece.

was he wearing a 37mm frosted AP RO? It looked like a 41mm Frosted. Is that a 1 of 1?

Wonder what model design is awaiting the new in-house.

I think it was a 1 of 1 41mm frosted. It had a blue dial. Or maybe it was 39mm 1 of 1.

Probably they will release some new nonsense one this year with it. Then next year all the ROCs will have them.

I'm thinking they will do an updated jules audemars chrono to try and spark some demand for that line and then put it in the RO as well. I don't know if they will put it in the ROO right away since it already uses the 3126 and the larger/thicker cases can easily house the modular movement.

They are probably going to launch new models with the inhouse...next SIHH I guess.. wonder what they have in store..

Any affect it will have on the previous models with the piguet f movements? Like a price increase or decrease etc? Any idea what happened in the past when a similar move was made by AP?

Is there an advantage to changing out the 3126? That one is already an in house chrono movement isn't it? I thought the chrono movement they were developing was specifically for the ROCs because they were the last ones left with an outsourced movement.

ROO chronos are also not in house.

ROOs have the calibre 3126/3840 now. ROCs are the most likely candidate and the JA is a good shout to help kickstart more sales.

3126 uses the in house 3120 as a base movement and a chrono module from Dubois Depraz so it's not entirely in house and many prefer integrated chronos. I really don't mind modular chronos and the ROO has always had them so it's part of the history of the watch in my mind.

Isn't that how AP does all their watches? Like the 2121? Don't they just stick modules on top for all the PC, equation of time, etc?

The ROC is already on the pricier side... inhouse movement + sapphire caseback may warranty a big price increase.
Then again what if they pull a 'Tudor and just raise it $500?

i think hes saying each piece of the link requires a unique mold since they are all different sizes.

... not for a new mold for every watch made

cant wait for the new in house chronos
