How Many Pieces In Your Collection?

I've been collecting for a while now, and while the eternal dream of being a one-watch man is not quite there yet, I have reduced my collection to three pieces.

Three seems to be the magic number for me.

I'm wondering what the magic number is for members here for their collection?

Do you collect as many as you fancy, or is there a particular number where you start trading off existing pieces?

For now, a 16660, 3800, and a 5010 will do for me. What about yourself?

The fewer the better, for lots of reasons. Can't see me ever having less than three. Right now, if I had to, I'd let the Montblanc and Tudor NF go, but I'll never part with the ExpII (sentimental reasons) nor the Explorer (I love it) and nor the GMT (I only just bought it)

I got five at the moment:
Sub c, explorer II, zenith el primero, omega speedie pro & longines legend diver.
Only 2 that I wear at the moment sub c and explorer ii. I'm thinking only 3 should be enough. Had fliped before panerai 380 and omega seamaster.

5 is a popular number. Currently: 116613lb, 114060, 5513, 116231, 1002, and a 3592 Speedy. The 5513 is for sale. Plan to move the Speedy too.
I had 12 at one time. Too many. Like to keep it in the 3-5 range.
The modern Subs really are all I need and are by far my favorites at this time. I have found over the 30 years playing with Rolex--that my tastes change and so does the collection.

Recently thinned the herd down a couple of watches, which put me where I thought I needed to be.

Then I saw an ad from Thanh in the For Sale section...oh well...

Got two and happy with them.

I think at the most 3 (probably a Daytona of some type eventually but we'll see) but really don't want too many pieces, especially since I've been long bitten by the PM bug.

Still reducing the number of watches. The fewer, the merrier. :)

I also think three is the magic number for me.

1. Dress/dressy sports watch
2. Daily beater
3. Fun piece (PM or special functionality)
