Congratulations, that is a great watch, steel bezel and black face is the best combination.

Sorry, can't disagree with you more, over 35% of the face of the watch is a different material and colour, a 116509 must also be essentially the same.

Awesome! I have the white face and I really struggled on which color. I don't think I'll be 100% satified until i also get the back face.

Great prices? I see BNIB/NOS examples for 14-15k.

Such a good choice. Black over white. Old over new model. I like your style.
I have the 520 white dial and am waiting for the 500 black dial. I feel both black and white 500 look equally good, but the black 500 trumps the White dial. Probably to do with the ceramic bezel being black. Porcelain is still king though!

No, a 116509 is solid precious metal of course. The changes on the 116500 are just dials really, add a several hundred dollar bezel in addition and I just don't see how that adds up to a materially different watch. It's in no way like when Rolex added the Ceramic to the Sub or GMT Master and we received newly designed pieces all together. The C is a beautiful watch, but it's just a dial and bezel change really. The later 116520s even came with the green seal ratings and warranty.

Saves you $2-4K over an 116500 on the secondary market?
