My experience purchasing a strap and clasp directly from Omega

As you may be aware, Omega now sells straps and clasps directly to consumers in the USA via its web site (they do this in other countries, too, I think). I purchased an alligator strap and the related deployant clasp for my Aqua Terra, and I'm happy with the outcome.

For reference, enclosed is a link to the offering on Omega's site showing the exact products I purchased: https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/o...-032cuz007465w

Before now I was not a fan of an Aqua Terra on an alligator strap, but a friend who likes to talk watches with me is in love with the combo. He kept sending photos and stating his intent to purchase this combo as his first good watch, and I kept politely telling him it looked great, but I didn't really think so (no harm, right?).

Well, he's right. It's a much nicer way to wear the Aqua Terra than I imagined. It looks way better on the wrist than I thought it would, it's super comfy, and the deployant clasp is quick and secure.

Delivery, packaging, etc. from Omega were all fantastic. Quality of the products is excellent. This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're thinking you might enjoy it then I can recommend it.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve had straps and NATO’s delivered and the service and quality is second to none. But as with all these things, you have to decide if the price is ok for you.

I love that look. Is that black or dark blue leather?

Jeremy, thanks. This one is dark blue to compliment the blue dial in my Aqua Terra.

The light wasn't so great when I snapped those photos. This one is slightly better, but still not an accurate representation of the nice shade of blue in the strap.

I think the strap looks great. I have a similar strap from Omega that I got for my Speedmaster and as it has been worn a little it looks better and fits my wrist better. Good job.

Thanks. You bring up a good point: this strap was reasonably pliable at first, but has become softer with time. Also, the luster of its finish was a bit dull and grey on day 1, but that also has improved with time, and now it looks a bit livelier than it did when new. These noticeable improvements happened over the first 3 months of use, so I expect it could continue to improve a bit further.

Nice Combo. Mind sharing the part number of the clasp?

The part of the strap with holes and inserted in the deployant, does it wiggle due to the newer designed clasp? In other words, clasp is designed for the thicker rubber straps?

Both ends of the strap fit perfectly into the clasp with no wiggle or play or gaps of any sort. I’m traveling at the moment and don’t have documentation handy, but I believe if you can follow the link to Omega’s site at the top of this thread then you’ll land on the page with that info.

Omega is great to order directly from. Reasonable prices, especially when going through an AD. You just need to know your part numbers.

Did strap come with spring bars? Spring bars for strap and bracelet are, apparently, not created equal.

I know when I ordered my bracelet they did not include spring bars, and as you point out the straps use different bars than the bracelets. The strap bars are a little longer.

Hmmmm... now that I think about it, no, I don't recall receiving spring-bars in the package I received from Omega. I think I simply used the bars that were holding the bracelet to my watch when I made the swap.

Looks good. I like the Aqua Terra on leather also. I'm thinking of the Grey dial with Blue indicates on the blue leather strap. Enjoy..

I don't believe the bracelet bars are recommended for use with the strap. 1mm shorter than the strap bars and thus not as secure a fit. Reports of folks having a very rough time using strap bars to fit bracelet. You might want to look into this. Odd that Omega would not provide correct bars.

Spring bars are not included. I have a whole box of quality spring bars.

It's nice to have both the bracelet and croc strap to alternate sporty and dressy looks. I did that a lot with my PO2500, part of the fun.

WOW! What is this? Does it come in other colors? Is this a deployant that comes with? It's amazing!

Any info appreciated!

Just go to the Omega website select the Seamaster Aqua Terra of your choice and scroll down, you'll see different straps..

I do agree the strap is awesome. I plan on getting both the strap and bracelet. Here is the 38mm blue in strap.

Omega really do trump other brands when it comes to giving a watch a personalised/custom
Feeling. So much choice with them.

I feel Rolex owners will eventually give up with the whole waiting list saga and get onto Omega to support their watch buying habits.

+1. Its much nicer on this side of the fence. I have completely given up on Rolex watches and experience. Don't get me wrong, I still admire some of their watches but totally not worth all the shenanigans.

I haven't visited the main forum in ages.

Great combination. When I bought the Aqua Terra at an Omega boutique a few years ago, they graciously gave me a blue alligator strap to go with it. I only had to purchase the fold-over deployment clasp.

As handsome as the bracelet is, my watch remains on that blue strap. Very comfortable and compliments the blue dial perfectly.
