Speedmaster 321 Platinum

If you had the cash on hand, would you purchase this watch given the opportunity?

I'd have to see it in person. I believe Speedmasters look best on a bracelet, and if they had that option it would probably be upwards of $70k, which puts you in the realm of haute homology. I love my Speedmasters, and have 3 variants, but there's a lot to think about with that piece (would I be just as happy with a "regular" 321? Will my disdain for meteorite dials die out before I get this? Should I just buy XXXXX watch instead with that kind of dough?).

I'm sitting on the same fence.

I may have the opportunity to see one in the steel (platinum) next week.

I'll report my findings (unless I buy it where I'll be too embarrassed to admit how much $$$$ I've blown)

If anyone looks into the specifics of the 321 platinum and have handled it....they know it's in a completely different league than stainless Speedmasters (even the 321). So my answer is a resounding yes.

Somebody on here had an incoming of this watch AND the Snoopy. The platinum 321 is a show stopper! Incredible looking watch. It sort of outshined the Snoopy

If I were going to spend that kind of money on a PM Speedmaster, I'd rather get the moonshine gold Apollo 11 50th or one of the new gold 3861 Speedmasters.

^^^^ this.

Really needs to kncluse bracelet at this price level imho. You can still wear it on leather too.

I sure would. A perfect partner to the steel 321. Unfortunately, not going to happen at any point soon!

I remember that post to Mike … it kind of went under the radar for such an epic incoming

I'd say yes if this is the kind of money would you typically spend on a watch.

I'd rather have the 321 steel... or a platinum something else.
if given the chance, I would MUCH RATHER take the moonshine over that platinum piece.

Sorry I meant to quote texasmade!

Agreed, and it’s a million times nicer than the snoopy that was with it. I’m still in a minority of one who doesn’t get that (aside from the easy cash)

I do like the Platinum Speedmaster but doubt I would put that much into one. I have owned multiple Platinum watches from Rolex, Daytona and DD's, and in the end they never got the wrist time to justify the amount they cost me. I moved them along. If I was going to spend 70k on a Speedmaster[s} I could have more fun collecting and wearing the 321 and a slew of cool vintage pieces. I saw the white gold version of the new Speedmaster and they would also be an option. Get what you like and will wear.

Love it but I’m satisfied with the 1863 Sapphire Sandwich on an alligator strap.

If you're a speedy affianando or the type of person who has multiple regular speed masters, then yes.

If you like spreading around the love and just want something unique, I'd be fishing in other waters.

I prefer the original Moonwatch , meaning the mass produced. It’s the oldest piece in my collection, It does what it supposed to do. I bet you that if I had any of the more expensive choices that watch probably be gone by now
lol

I would prefer this over Platona if it came with the platinum Ed White bracelet, I still prefer it to other PM Daytonas. If money was not an issue, I would buy it in heartbeat, it has a different vibe hard to describe with words.

I have a platona and they are quite different animals...both amazing in their own right

The 321 is more elegant the platona is indestructible
