SPEEDMASTER all day. History, function and style speaks for itself.

I’d vote Speedy as well. The OP is a great watch but nothing truly stands out about it to me. The Speedy is similarly subtle but has a tremendous history. I disagree with the criticisms of its hands or bracelet.

A Speedy is a must in any collection....just an icon in itself...
I'm in a list for an OP41 Silver for a few month now....who knows when they will call....just went to an Omega Boutique earlier this week and tried on a Speedy Moonwatch (hesalite) and the Racing...like the date feature of the Racing, but prefer the sapphire sandwich......the SA said they have sapphires on order and they should arrive next week....they promised they will call me and pretty sure they will.... |

Two very different watches. I suggest trying both on and seeing which feels better and looks better.

I hadn't thought of it that way. Maybe I'll get the starter motor taken off my car and replace it with a handle. Could be a satisfying way of interacting with it.

Buy the watch you need. Do you need a time only watch with a brightly coloured dial or a black chronograph which allows you to time how long your coffee has brewed?

I bet the OP also made this exact same thread in the Omega forums.
I dunno how he's gonna decide. The thread with the most posts wins? I hope the guys at Omega forums are posting up a storm... |

Between those two, I'd choose the Speedmaster. Especially if the OP is not your goal/ultimate Rolex watch. The OP is an excellent watch, but it is not the one that most yearn for (either as a first Rolex or grail Rolex).
If you only ever get one Omega, the Speedy is pretty much the one. Get that one, and then save up for your preferred Rolex. Best wishes |

2 different types of watches. Buy what speaks to you. OP is more difficult to get @ retail now. Speedy is easier to get. Both are nice pieces, just very different. I would like to add a Speedy to my collection one day.

Weird comparison, but between those two, Omega definitely wins in my book.

If it comes down to the two, I prefer the Soeedy. If it’s between the Speedy and the Datejust, then I’d go Rolex.

I prefer the Sapphire due to it's scratch resistance, the exhibit caseback so you can see that wonderful movement and it is slightly thinner, but understand the allure of the Hesalite since that is the reference that was certified by NASA. If you are going to get the Speedy, you should get the reference that speaks to you.....highly recommend going to an Omega AD or Boutique and trying them on....unfortunately, you can't even do that in a Rolex AD..... |

Rolex for me. But just to be fair, I will suggest same question is asked on Omega forums to hear their 2cents too.

I’d pick the speedy…
One you can buy and enjoy. The other you can join the never ending wait. |

I bought my 1861 2 weeks ago and it hasn’t left my wrist except to be wound. It’s kind of a lovable quirk, forgivable as it’s direct descendant of the original. I send 5 or 6 times longer brushing my teeth in the morning than winding it. Will it wear off? Who knows but I think it’s highly unlikely. Only problem I have with Omega in general is I have got so used to Rolex glide lock which I find invaluable in the hot spell we are having in UK already looking for strap options which will be more forgiving on a hot or humid day.

I’d go speedmaster here between the 2. I love the new bracelet and the speedmaster looks great on just about any strap. The versatility and timeless design gets the nod here.
