This sounds interesting. How is it your hobby?
------ My two main ones are golf & pool and I do have a modest cue collection to go with my modest watch collection. Not sure that this would qualify as a hobby exactly, but I do go to the gym.

Stamps and coins, since I was a kid. I still literally look through my change to find old coins. I recently found a very rare 1943 wartime Jefferson silver nickel in very near mint condition (wondering if someone rifled through a grandather's collection by mistake).
For fun, very low cost, collecting "pressed pennies" on vacation, also since I was a kid. I love architecture, have several books, and go out of my way to visit interesting and significant sites. Within the last few years I got really into collecting vintage California pottery (Bauer, Catalina Island, Howard Pierce, etc.). I am very interested in Art Deco and Art Nouveau era watches and jewelry, but right now am just researching history, and not purchasing. I have had a lifelong love affair with vintage cars, but don't collect them, just study and admire. I have noticed that I really enjoy the decorative arts, of making something "more beautiful than they have to be," where craftsmanship is a joy to witness whether it is watches, cars, architecture, or even a cigarette lighter (some gorgeous chrome and Bakelite examples frothy 1930s). None of us "need" a Rolex to tell time, but we enjoy looking at them and wearing them. Houses do not "need" an architectural style, whether Spanish, English Tudor, or mid century Modern. But, a beautiful house is more than a utilitarian roof over our heads, it is home, our private retreat to share with others (if we wish). |

I have 3 80's Mustangs I really like. Otherwise, camping, hiking, and biking are fun to do with my family. I spent Thursday kayaking on Lake Superior. The verdict is still out on whether I want to do that again.

In no particular order.. amateur radio (easily biggest hobby of mine), remote controlled aircraft, photography, camping, rowboating, fishing, trying to keep my lawn / plants alive.. that's all I can think of right now.

I have a small collection of diamonds, gold and platinum jewelry.
Manofsteel.. I have never seen anyone at the gym with a cigar or drink in hand but I would love to see a pic of all three. The funniest thing Ive seen was this older guy, probably there to get out of the house, was reading the paper in between his very slow sets. If it wasn't a no no to take a vid or pic of this I would have. |
