This is the way Rolex works. Keep those 116610LN and Super Case Maxi Dial Variants. Enjoy!

Why care what others like more than what you like?
Enjoy your Rolex

You know for me this is why I don't get the hype with the Hulk. A Submariner's Black. (I must admit I've never even seen a Hulk in person though.)

It’s not for everyone. I didn’t want it when it wasn’t popular and then when it became popular I looked at it again and it still does nothing for me. For me, Rolex green looks great with yellow gold.

I think it’s another Instagram generation influenced decision. The lugs don’t photograph as well as the slimmer vintage look when side by side on Instagram or in a YouTube video, to my eye but in real life I prefer the maxi. I adore my 116610LN and hope it’s with me forever, although one like David’s 116618LB would be a great stablemate for it. But I think the ext version is going to be the social media darling of the next 5 years.

Not a fan either - really not a nice looking watch a lot of people, even people I know, but just because it’s “in”.

Very hard to dress accordingly - if you like to match your watch with your clothes.

I bought one back in the day (2013 or so) but to me it is not an easy watch to wear because:

-The watch (mostly the dial) is very flashy.
-The color doesn't match most of my clothes (navy blue, red...).
-It is so peculiar it gets boring if I wear it frequently.

I think it looks its best as an object under the AD lights, the first sight was very charming. As an actual watch it's not very competent.

I would very much prefer a black dial and a darker tone of green for the bezel. Also a dark navy blue steel Submariner would be great. BUT, I think the black one is really unmatched. It's flawless. IMO every other combination should be for a 2nd or 3rd watch: it doesn't make sense unless you already have the black one (it's my favourite watch anyway).

Yes the Black Submariner is Flawless. A perfect watch in every way for me, whether with or without date. I traded mine as part of a deal to get my daytona and I Regret it, shouldve just shelled out the extra cash so I've both.

Long live the 116610LN! My first love and to me, the “perfect watch”. We’re about to celebrate our 2 month anniversary together

I’m fairly new to the Rolex world, I wanted a Sub, I never knew about lugs and don’t really care what size the lugs are, I have a beautiful watch a 116613LB and that’s all that matters to me, I never get swayed by other opinions each to their own.

Publishing you're not worried about what others think is not a very distinct sign of not being worried about what others think. Just saying.

If you like it you like it. If you don't you don't.

Why the hard sell? Why is it necessary?

Before joining TRF I never even knew about any differences in the watches, when I first saw posts about 4-5 digit watches I had to look up what it meant, I just enjoy my Bluesy for what it is, a 6 digit but would be just as happy with a 5 digit (although I preferred new) all irrelevant to me.

A super case Sub will never be classed as rare within the next 100 years at least!

I am close to picking up the current bluesy and from the photos would pick over the new version, I might even have the choice! Future post coming. The supercase for me is what makes the sub a sub. I have a datejust 41 and like the 114060 so much more.

Why would any massed produced product become rare?

I love the look of both :) i get the OG appeal of thinner lugs (let's be honest, that's really the debate here), and I appreciate the rugged, tool look of the maxi case. They're both Subs, both a classic, no need to sh*t on other people's watches.

The under recognized reality-116610LN will appreciate in value and charm!

Never liked the chunky case of the 6 series Sub, so won’t missed it if indeed discontinued in favor of a new, slimmer lug case Sub

In a few years it will just be another Sub out of millions of Subs

Then again, it already is

And then yet again, one is the better Sub, the other is the better watch

I own a 114060 and a LVc. I was also under the impression that subs should be black and the green was not my thing. I didn’t understand the hype about the hulk until I saw one in person. Instantly knew I had to get it and they have made a great pair ever since. See one in person before you write it off.

The watch is incredibly popular and has been sold in its millions (?) Over the decade. There is no under valued bs. Just some may not like it's appearance. Which is fine!

Perhaps I do not like the shape as much as other watches. But that doesn't represent their addressable market. Just some opinionated forum members.
There is no difference in this and the mental gymnastics people try and use to justify the price of a 16710 when it had a far longer production run than the 116610 and Rolex made hundreds of thousands of them. Hasn't stopped people on here from hyping those up as some sort of unicorn.

Thanks for showing there is hardly any perceptible difference between the two. From five feet away you cant even tell.

I say good riddance. Hated the chunk lugs and skinny bracelet, sold it within 6 months. Can't wait to try on the new one, in about 5 years and maybe get the call to buy one by the time it gets replaced 10 years from now.
