There is really no difference between the two series. Just the letters. Thank God Rolex has changed nothing on the SD.......YET!

In fact, my AD received FOUR SD's in the shipment from Rolex:

3 "M" series and 1 "Z" series. I had a look at all four to find the nicest (although there SHOULD be no difference, sometimes there ARE tiny differences all the same). I chose the "M" with the easiest serial number and (being supersticious sometimes) avoided an "M" series with a lot of "4"'s in the serial number (the number 4 means "death" and is unlucky in China)

I have heard that the M movements are all made in China and they can be bought in Beijing for US$10 a dozen ....

Congrats, Bo....well done. Seems you now have the very latest M-series.

So all that talk about Rolex moving away from the alphabet for the series was all

J,

Mine did not come with an anchor also and I bought mine a week ago. I think that it was done away with because of the new packaging, etc.

That is a symbol that is on all new Rolex watches. It is printed on the plastic cover that you can peel of the case sides.

The symbol is in fact a bar code that contains information for Rolex' records about stock of factory.

An update:

I just checked to precision and my SD has gained 4,5 seconds since the 6th. of September where I bought (swopped) it.

But now a question:

Yesterday, it was only 2 secs fast, but overnight it gained other 2secs.

As far as I know, "Positional correction" - as shown underneath - does not really have any influence on MODERN Rolex watches.

I do put it on my bedside table with the crown DOWN (to let is lose some seconds). But it does not seem to work since it actually gained 2 secs overnight. Not much, but still much in comparison to 2 secs over the 2 previous DAYS.

What would you do, guys?

Here is the guide to "Positional Correction":

I thought I had had it for too long since I bought it on the 27th. of July this year!

Well, to be serious now:

I never really liked the cyclops. IMHO, it is "in the way" since you have to look DIRECTLY onto the cyclops to tell the date. And I don't like how the hands are blurred when passing underneath the cyclops.

I have worn my SS Sub Date, but since I am VERY cautious with my watches, it had NO scratches whatsoever.

So on an impulse, I phoned my AD Monday and simply told him that I was not really happy with the Sub Date and asked if I could have it swabbed for an SD instead. I simply just like the cleaner look of the dial and the thicker case that fits my wrist better.

My AD told me that he would be willing to do so if the watch was like new in box. He would have to inspect it and maybe have to detract a small amount since I had used it.

I asked whether I could STILL get 10 % discount on the SD, too, and he said "Of course you can", but he would STILL have to inspect the watch.

I immediately went to my AD with the Sub Date, he inspected it and told me that "all is what is should be".

An SD would arrive this week, he also told me.

I only had to pay the price difference between the SS Sub Date and the SD (minus 10 % discount on the SD)!

So HERE IT IS (and bye bye, Sub Date):

Full Package (BTW. I have 3 SD Anchors now since this is my 3rd. SD):

He received FOUR SD's (1 Z-series and 3 M-series, and I chose the M-series with the easiest serial number):

Some views:

The obligatory wrist shot (the bracelet did not need to be adjusted whatsover, it just fit me right away:

Some lume shots (sorry about the shaken pics):

And THIS is now my updated list over "flipped Rolex watches":

1. Submariner Date (16610) R 97 XXXX, bought on 22.04.1989

5. Submariner Date (16610), X 90 XXXX, bought on 06.10.1993 from my AD in Denmark.

6. Datejust (16234), X 33 XXXX, bought on 08.02.1994 from my AD in Denmark.

13. Cosmograph Daytona (16520), T 31 XXXX, bought on21.11.1996 from my AD in Denmark.

14. Datejust (16220), U 53 XXXX, bought on 06.10.1998 from another AD in Denmark than my usual AD.

15. Submariner Date (16610), A 22 XXXX, bought on 03.05.1999, again from another AD than my usual AD.

16. Cosmograph Daytona (16520), A 30 XXXX, bought on07.09.1999 from my AD in Denmark.

17. Submariner Date (16610), A 74 XXXX, bought on 13.06.2000 from another AD than my usual AD.

19. Submariner Date (16610), Z 87 XXXX, bought on 27.07.2007 from yet another new AD.

20. Sea-Dweller 4000 (16600), M02XXXX, bought on 06.09.2007

Ok those Euro dates confuse me..... I have a hard time getting used ot the day/month/year vs. the US month/day/year.

That would have to be some kind of record but given Bo's history not out of the question.

No, I have yet to flip a Rolex due to bad timekeeping. The TK is also not bad at all, but I was curious about how one can correct the time gained during the night.

That "Positional Correction" overview above does not really have any effect on modern Rolex watches, as I stated.

Bo just stick it out. Your SD is going to take several weeks to normalize and the movement will "break in" to a regular discrepancy (if any)

I know.

Still it seems to gained "much" in the night.

Funny thing is that this "Positional Correction" overview about states that your watch will lose "some more secs" if the watch is lying with the crown UP.

However, I make an experiment yesterday before I went to sleep:

Having had a "lazy Sunday", I gave my SD some "Brandy Swirls" before going to bed to boost the power reserve a bit. And I laid my SD with crown DOWN:

Result: ZERO deviation during the night!
