My sub 41 journey with my ad

I purchased a dj41 rolster, and 2 BB GMT from one AD since 12/2019.

My AD offered me a sub41 date on 03/21, had to kindly reply no because I was in the middle of purchasing a home.

Called my SA (to ask to see if I was on the list because I am ready to buy) today and she stated they took me off the list because I didn’t buy it when offered and they didn’t want to keep on calling me.

She then stated do I want the BLRO GMT or the sub41 date because you can only purchase one SS per year.

I said whatever comes first I will be happy either way.

Wait goes on…..(I didn’t flip the sub initially because I wanted it for me)

My wedding is in 12/2021……

Frustrating, but can’t really blame the AD. A little odd that they suggested a BLRO without prompting — seems hard to believe they’d come through on that. In any case, good luck.

Sounds like a Ben Bridge. Their policy is one SS a year.

If I get a SS SUB by the end of this year I would feel ecstatic

I would say you have decent chances and a reason why you declined the first time. Subs come in from time to time. Plus, I think Rolex sends more before Christmas, it always seemed like I bought more watches just before the holiday than other times of the year.

That one SS piece is bs, I know many watch friends that the rule does not apply to.

Based off MY experience then yes because I asked my SA about a Sub ND last year and few months later he offered me his first piece. I turned it down since that watch was the lowest on my list and was hoping to get something better. Since that didn’t pan out, I asked for ND again in August of this year and he sold me his first ND for the year (according to him) 3 weeks later. My timing was fortunate since the store was getting the ND Sub and was his turn to sell it. But this is my SA and my relationship with him so it all depends on your relationship with your SA and timing.

It’s all about the relationship. For me it’s been a BLRO, Sub 41 and BLNR with the shortest wait time 1 day and the longest 3 months. Others have waited over a year for these models. It depends on the AD and your relationship with that AD. There is no single answer to your question.

In many ways you're lucky to be offered the opportunity to purchase these models.

I would think a new Submariner is within reason before the end of the year. It all comes down to the AD and your SA. I would take myself into the AD and talk to the SA in person and have a good conversation and explain the particulars of why you had to pass on the first watch and why you want the watch now. My experience is that I have much more success in dealing with people face to face than by texting/phone calling/emailing. I would also go in next month and the month after and so on until I have what I want. Good luck and let us know how it plays out.

I got a ND sub as a walk in with no purchase history in three weeks. It's definitely possible. This was in northern Virginia.

I don’t want to give you false hope, but I think it is possible you can get it by end of year.

You have some purchase history AND a huge milestone event (they really love those when making decisions).

Just make sure they know you are getting married by the end of the year.
I think that is critical in you getting this piece.
Good luck!
