I’ve been wearing my seadweller for the last 18 years all the time . It’s banged up but still keeps good time. My Daytona however is somewhat scratched but not a safe queen

My Dad's Explorer II has been on his wrist for about 23 years. It has seen a little use.

Wow. Missing bezel paint and mismatched dial lume compared to hands. Were they ever swapped out?

The YM was my everyday beater for ten years. I wish I took better care of it, but it is the most well-worn watch in the collection, so a lot of memories attached to it.

Great piece! Love those bold red fonts and the earlier, more rough-finished dials!

Thank you sir! Not for anything else, it's valuable to me because it was the watch I was wearing when my kids were born.

I don’t know about you guys but light scratches are no biggie. Any of these light scratches that can be rubbed out with cape cod cloths are par for the course. The stuff that would drive me nuts is dings, dents or gouges. Basically anything that would require laser welding to fix

Nobody is wrong when it comes to this subject. However if you are in the “ I take pride and love to beat the crap out of my $10,000 watch” club then I hope you do the honorable thing and disclose pictures of it when it’s at its worst point if you ever decide to sell it. There are several pictures of watches here that I would absolutely never buy unless it was a stupid awesome deal.

In my life I have lots of things that I use in two different categories. I have very nice hunting rifles that I will only use when I know the rifle won’t get abused and then I have other rifles that are nowhere near as nice that I wouldn’t mind going to war with and dragged in the mud.

I have very nice shoes that I would never wear in the rain and only go to restaurants or other nice places and then I have hiking boots and I would trench through the mud in the mountains with. Same goes with clothes.

I also have beater watches. They certainly aren’t multi thousand dollar watches that I’d beat up. More like G shocks. I’m going deep-sea fishing today in the Keys. I will not be bringing my Omega Seamaster or one of my submariner’s with me. I have a G shock for that. Now having said that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with anyone that wants to take their Rolex watch or even a Patek with them deep sea fishing. To each their own. It’s your property. I just wish we’d stop criticizing each other for our individual view points on this. As I said in the beginning nobody is wrong when it comes to this subject.

Have a blessed day. :-)

A used watch is a loved watch - when the grandkids get my watches, last thing I'd want them to think is what a pussy their grampa must have been.

I personally don't like the extremes. When my watch gets so much scuffs and dings I send it to be polished and restored. I don't like it when it gets to the point of some pictures posted here. Same thing applied to my cars, I stop driving my car and send it to a paint shop when it gets too many scratches, dings or hits.
Watch makers are proud of their steel for it's shine and durability, cars for the paint job or finish...once that state is completely changed and altered due to harsh use a restoration must take place in my opinion.

Never serviced nor replaced. I asked because the non-matching lume plots/hands seemed strange to me. It's actually quite common for them to age differently, hence why matching patina is cherished. He is only now considering a service. As far as the bezel goes, he used to wear a white gold bracelet on on the same hand. He doesn't do that anymore…

I have the problem of using the same things for everything hahaha

I wish I could be like you

Idk why I’m like that

I will walk into a restaurant in a T-shirt and jeans

Just as easy as I will use a nice shirt and jeans to work on q car if I need to
