No idea if its rolex singapore instructions.
I understand that rolex service centre display them for show.

But a official authorized dealer that is supposed to be selling the watches are displaying them only.

If they claim it was rolex Singapore idea and the stocks belongs to rolex and not the ad, then I have nothing to comment further.

But my question remains, why?

As long as this AD is moving enough inventory otherwise, there's nothing forcing them to sell what's shown on display. Plenty of ADs have inventory sitting in display cases. This one just happens to have models in high demand.

There are no rules that these are supposed to be sold. Once purchased from Rolex, they're the property of the AD. They can't return them, either.

You do know sales people can lie right?
Lol.

Unless it's a official directive by rolex, said by rolex themselves.
If not I call bullsh1t

Plus. They have been lying about sports model being out of stock but once you buy Watches worth at least 30-50k. Magically it appears.

Seen it happening quite a number of times personally.

I understand purchase with purchase to move goods
But such a stunt. What's the point.

Have you spent some time to talk to them and understand why rather than jumping to your own conclusions? Do you have a good relationship with your AD? I find that having a good relationship with your AD is very important so that they can understand your needs better. You will end up with a better outcome.

I am not jumping into conclusion.
I have a good relationship with various ad in Singapore.
I know their tricks inside out. I understand It's just business.
So don't believe whatever they say.

Unless they have official email or directives from rolex, if not it's just smokescreen by the sales person.

Don't forget. They're sales people.

I bought a watch for $ 30-50000. What do I need steel for?... Already have a great watch (gold, platinum...).

I'm in favor of this (and I saw a similar display at a Singapore AD recently). I was actually able to try on a SeaDweller, instead of being laughed out of the store.

You don't have to buy a watch with 30-50k spending.
There's a ton of other brands to buy from.

AD's safes are full of watches waiting for a grey or a VIP to pick up or a sucker to walk in the door and get bundled.

I believe so too. I asked my AD if they could waitlist me for a OF daytona and they asked me to be on standby. When i told them i’d be out of town until end of the month they asked if I could come now to collect it. Turns out they have some rule where each SA can only sell certain number of sports watches every 2 weeks and gotten approval to sell it ‘early’ as I would be travelling...

If the watches are not owned by anyone, then they should absolutely be for sale. This is beyond ridiculous! For those saying this isn’t a bad thing, as it allows one to try them on, there are tonnes of grey dealers that allow you to try on. I visited a Watch finder in London recently to try on a ceramic Daytona. As lovely as it was, I wasn’t paying above retail for it. This kind of practice at the Rolex AD, however, is a total joke. Makes a mockery of the consumer.

Having never seen many of the current models in the flesh, I think this is a great idea and should be standard at all ADs so we can at least get a feel before blindly adding ourselves to wait lists

Many ADs have watches for touch and feel. I've seen an AD in Europe pull a hulk from a safe for someone to try ONLY.

Rolex is doing some serious teasing. I cant wait to see what their new strategy will be when the economy gets wiped out and everyone fiending a steel watch will suddenly not want one OR they find out that profit off a DaytonaC has dwindled to a mere few hundred bucks.

Also ADs having watches on display - Dubai's Rolex AD at the mall (or the fashion avenue bit) has all the models up. I've also visited an AD before that claimed the watches on display was their "VIP customer's" DeepBlue and Batman. Letting other strangers try it on. Not sure why you'd have a DeepBlue and Batman at an AD's display for others to try on. Weird fetish indeed.

This happen in Malaysia as well. Walk pass some AD and they show some sport series, for display only. The AD said it create more bad than good because people constantly walk in and ask why the stock is not for sale. However they still need to do this because it is instruction from Rolex. Who knows.

Tell them that your money is for display purposes only when it comes to the watches that they’re actually selling.

I don't see a problem, I assume they are available to handle and try on. Better than nothing at all.

Yeah this looks like the shop by the service center in Singapore. I went in the other day and they had this bullshit up. As soon as I asked about it, they got all shitty with me. I asked "Which ones do you actually have for sale??". I left. Hong Kong folks are much nice and pleasant to speak with.
