Iconic watch collectors: would you consider cartier tank solo (QUARTZ) valid?
Ok, so I want to hear your opinions.
I'm a beginner iconic timepieces collector. I currently own 14060M, 3570.50, and cartier tank solo (quartz). Would you guys consider quartz watch a valid member of the iconic timepieces collection? My initial thought was that only mechanical watches work as true 'members,' if that makes any sense. Share your thoughts! Thanks. |

Would you consider the Speedy automatic just as iconic as the Pro? If not, you already have your answer.
Personally, I'd say the Tank quartz is every bit as iconic as the automatic in design... perhaps not in the purest form. Sent from my F8132 using Tapatalk |

If you enjoy it that's all that matters.
Personally no quartz for me.

I'd say it qualifies. How long have quartz Tanks been around now?

In my opinion, Yes. Clearly the market for mechanical is bigger, but high end quartz is here to stay. Even FP Journe is selling a quartz men's watch

The Cartier Tank is a classic design. The quartz movement does not work for me though. I would own it with a different movement.

I don't care for quartz, but that watch is still a classic.

It's definitely an iconic watch. Different people have different requirements for their own collections, i.e. quartz vs. mechanical, but I don't think that changes the watch's status as an iconic design.
I know you're building your collection with a focus on the icons, I've done the same (I also started with the 14060 and 3570.50), but also don't forget that this hobby is about enjoyment. If you love your Cartier, which you very well should, enjoy it and don't put too much emphasis on whether others would consider it an "icon" or not. |

For sure. It's as iconic as they come.

Actually, it's probably one of the few Quartz watches that I really like.
Without a seconds hands or display back, it's virtually indistinguishable from mechanical. When you consider that most mechanical Tanks weren't even supplied with Cartier manufactured movements, it makes the distinction even less significant IMO. And it's more accurate and always ready to go. What's not to like? |

Do the Tank Solo quartz and Tank Louis quartz watches use the same movement?

I have the automatic version myself and do consider the quartz tank iconic.
