Should I buy this watch?

Hi guys,

i've always wanted a Patek perpetual. What do you think of the 5140p in charcoal grey dial?

I've seen at my local AD. It's been in stock for a while. I Know that since i've seen it more than a year ago. Both the blue and grey dial are available. However, I really like the grey one more.

Do you think is worth it? I don't see many people owning this watch especially the grey dial. Is it that unpopular?

In real life, the dial looks darker and the hour markers sparkle. It really looks different.

I like it a lot. While I personally would go for the rose or yellow gold version and the white dial, if this is more your style, go for it. And I'd much rather have platinum than white gold.

Have you tried it on? The case is relatively small at 37mm I believe.

Buy what you like but nice to know potential resale value going in should you change your mind. I personally prefer 3940/3970/5970 for a PCc.

The 5140 (along with the 3940 and 5327) is one of the slimmest PCs out there, with the 240 movement. A platinum Patek is always going to be a more special piece than a gold (WG, RG, YG) piece.

Discussions here on TRF recently have focused more on value retention and not losing your shirt on a deal. But at the end of the day, what is important is that you enjoy the watch.

Get a 3940p instead. I have owned both (5140p-001 blue dial) and currently own the 3940p. The 3940p is much more beautiful and has the perfect dial with zero compromises such as the squashed numerals in the date wheel.

Beautiful watch and dial. I tried one on in the London salon 2 weeks ago. But unless you get a significant discount, would buy it pre-owned.

A perpetual is cool, but I got the 5146g with grey dial, saved allot of money and am quite satisfied.
