aftermarket alligator straps for Rolex watches

just wondering if anyone would want to put on aftermarket leather straps on their GMT, Submariner, etc???

like alligator or maybe even vintage leather straps?
or does everyone prefer just keeping it clean with the stock metal Rolex bracelets?

Personally, I prefer the original bracelet. On a sleek dress watch like a Cellini, I think a croc strap looks fantastic!!

I've got a black leather DiModell on my SD...I prefer it over the Rolex bracelet...much more comfy.

I think if you're going strap on a SS sports rolex, it should be a calf or CF. Gator could be too dressy... unless you're putting it on an ExpII, Explorer or maybe a daytona.

I've been known to put my ExpII on a strap:

Holy Moley, Atomic! What great pics! Honestly, your Explorer looks outstanding in the watch bands you have displayed. You have good taste, bro! And, I do agree with you and JJ in that an alligator watch band is much more appropriate, and, quite exceptional on a "dress" watch style. However, a "sport" watch, like the Rolex Subs and GMT's, IMHO, look absolutely "Muscular" and perfect with the o.e. steel, or, TT bracelet.

Nice looking setup, Charles.

You know... I've never even considered a leather watch band, but on the Explorer II it looks right at home. The second band with the red stitching definitely goes with the red 24hr hand.

What kind of material is that second one, Peeta? Carbon Fibre?

Hey Tony...checkout banda.com, qualitytyme.net and mywatchmaker.net for some band options. banda has a ton of carbon/breitling style bands...this is the one going on the SD next...

I think they're a great alternative -- especially when you don't want to attract a lot of attention. I was wondering if anyone makes them in women's sizes / colors. I plan on wearing my YM every day and would like to preserve the bracelet. Although I'm planning on wearing it with the bracelet for a while first!

I know that thewatchprince.com carries some women's leather straps. They're definitely a good way to minimize the attention to the watch. But if you like the rolex bracelet I wouldn't sweat preserving it...easily buffed clean! Enjoy it!

Definitely...I think it looks really sharp. Nice that it's military style as well to protect from a busted springbar. I'm waiting on mine to arrive and when it does I'll post some pix.
