What's the dumbest move you've made while collecting.
Ok so this topic is painful, but hey this place is cheaper than therapy right?
What's the dumbest thing you've done in regards to your watches? Selling something you regretted, losing something, breaking something, or maybe not buying something? What's your biggest dumb mistake or biggest regret? Mine is trading my first Rolex I ever owned, a TT datejust that was given to me by my dad. I know that's about as dumb as you can get, but I was young and thought I knew more than I did. What's your biggest regret?

Selling my A Serial Pepsi 16710 back in 2010. Now I want to get another and I am going to pay a premium compared to the $3500 I paid then.

I think this sometimes too, Omega was first then IWC. But if I'd started with Rolex I think I'd only have Rolex, given to how I've taken to them since getting mine. I am glad to have the brand diversity I have knowing my next watches will likely all be Rolex.

2 dumb moves from me....
I bought a new LV back in 2010 (still got it) and was offered a second one by the AD. Instead of buying it I passed it onto a friend. The good thing is he still has it The other dumb move was selling this RG Zenith el Primero It was stunning with brushed, polished and satin finishes on the case and a solid gold dial and rotor. |

This. Also repeatedly doing px at a dealers. That said, the journey was fun and ended up at the right stop so I’m happy about both. Can think of many other vices that are far less forgiving.

This guy says it all right here. I went through several Breitlings, JLC’s, etc etc until I just started buying Rolex. I don;t totally understand why I love them, but everything is 2nd best in my book. I did put on a Patek Aquanaut last week though, def tickled my fancy Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Buying a watch that didn't sing to me. Flipped it a few months later and a few dollars poorer.

There are so many.
1. Selling a theater made scuba recon band that was on my Sub, because it wasn't authentic Rolex. 2. Passing on my choice of Red Sub or Sea Dweller for $2,000 3. Passing on no crown subs for $4,000 4. Not coughing up 50k for a Milgauss diver. 5. Not buying a 1940s oversized Tudor chronograph for 400. I am guessing 44mm in size. Never have seen one in photos even I have seen similar Rolex for 100k. 6. Not bidding more on a President because the bezel looked funny. {It was a first generation model) 7. Passing on a President for scrap, because the dial had to be redone. Some annoying bright color. (It was a Stella dial) Last edited by MILGAUSS88; 13 August 2016 at 03:50 PM.. Reason: ...... |

I consider it a mistake that I bought a Kermit as an investment piece. It's a complete set in excellent condition, and it just sits in the safe. I don't want to wear it and put scratches on it. What a shame to have such a nice watch and never wear it.
