I love complete sets and they do not get more complete than this one I think!

Great thread

I am really liking these vintage datejust pictures. I've owned a pristine blue, gray dial versions of the 1603 steel, and a few two tones. All given as gifts to family or sold/traded.

This one is from 1969, and I am keeping it for me to wear:

I've been wearing a 1603 exactly like that since Sep 1968 (your 1968); every day until I had RSC replace the bracelet, crystal, etc 2 years ago. But otherwise every day including camping, working around house, and all that.

Amazing! Mine was sold on October 16, 1968. Here are the bits that go with it...probably much the same as yours, except mine no longer still had the chrono result papers by the time I got it.

I love the wideboy dial and hands

But I like my mom's Buckley dial DJ even more (courtesy of our forum's Jessie aka 'jvmartin')

Just back from service

New here, but thought I'd join the discussion.

Inherited from my father a couple years ago. Just received it back from The Watch Buyers Group. I'm new to the "Rolex Way" - the watch looks like new except as noted below and after only a couple of days, seems to be about +5 seconds/day. Since I'm learning, any information is useful.

This was a daily wear watch, obviously for years, but looks like it still has years to go!

This is my third automatic watch - never meant to collect watches, but now have this in addition to an Omega Speedmaster Date (3513.50) and my grandfather's gold Movado Kingmatic purchased in Switzerland somewhere in the mid-60's.

"Pitting" on hands. I assume this is an age issue?

The "specks" by 9:00 are reflections - nothing there on the watch itself.

Question - does the "3 72" stamped on the band indicate March, 1972? The WBG indicated the watch was from 1st quarter 1972, so that would make sense.

Rolex logo on bracelet is worn away and the bracelet is stretched.

Love DJs, I have a couple but this the latest and current fav...

1968 1603

I just installed the clear caseback today, I'm mesmerized by shiny things like 1570 movements. This came on a gorgeous original jubilee, suitably loose and comfy.
