Just started investing in gold. Been buying the Canadian 1oz coins and see that they run a little cheaper than the US coins. Is there really a difference other than preference?

It’s always been said that U.S. coins (and currency) carry the full faith and backing of the U.S. government…I’m not sure that amounts to anything any more. In my opinion, if you’re buying bullion, the gold is the gold. That being said, I own both…and then some.

Canadian Maple Leafs and Australian Kangaroos are usually good values at APMEX.com. WHEN they are in stock!

They are pure gold where the US coins are generally not (although they still do contain a full amount of precious metal.)

I prefer .999 to .99999 purity myself.
