I can tell you I feel safer wearing it here than I do in most major cities in the UK.

I wandered into a fake watch shop for a laugh. Owner clocks my watch and says "nice watch".
I reply and said it's a high end fake because I thought that might be the more sensible way to play it.

He says "I know it's real but don't worry, this is Egypt not London"

Wore it for three nights in Cairo, no problem. Obviously as a tourist I was in hotels, restaurants etc.

Not an issue at all.

I've been to Egypt quite a few times so am used to the country but this is the first time I've considered taking a Rolex.
Last year I wore my Omega Seamaster 300M whilst travelling all around Egypt and whilst diving. I didn't have a problem at all but a Rolex is a slightly different kettle of fish.
I'll just wear the Omega again then

Better safe than sorry!

I'll be going on 12-day Viking Nile River Cruise in the Spring and plan to take a Rolex. I'm just not sure which one will get to accompany me on this trip.

I always wear a watch when I'm home or traveling. Travel Safe and make great memories that include your watches.

I'm half-Egyptian myself, been there many times (father is from Cairo). My suggestion would be, outside of Cairo (and possibly Alexandria), nothing to worry about. But IN Cairo, you better maintain situational awareness at all times if you're gonna wear your Rolex, or any high-end watch, especially if its obvious you're not a local (i.e. you dont look Egyptian)

The first sentence of the United States Department of State travel advisory states "Reconsider travel to Egypt due to terrorism."

I'll be touring Egypt in December, and I plan on wearing my Sub the entire time. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Be careful, those pyramids are pretty pointy.

Perfect for scratching your watch!

My advice…. Cancel your trip to Sharm. It’s awful.
The scuba diving I suppose is good. But it otherwise is just awful, the touts are horrendously aggressive and unpleasant.

I wouldn't wear one on a trip personally. One less thing to worry about.

Agree, I wouldn't go back. I feared we were being kidnapped at one point, I nearly drowned in the red sea and the hotel next door was bombed the day after we left. Not my idea of a holiday.
