Incoming Speedy from my fantastic AD!

So the new Speedmaster landed for me today....Sapphire Sandwich.

I can't recommend my Omega AD enough...E.D. Marshall in Scottsdale. Ask for Hugh. One of the best I've ever worked with. Tell him Ben sent you.

Great weekend everyone!

I just paid retail for one and had to wait a month to get it at boutique. NIB at local gray near me is above retail.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been hearing also…no more discounts on 1861’s as they become a little scarce.
I paid full price for my 1861 in Dec. but was able to walk out the door with an OP41 too so I can’t complain.

Guys, the new bracelet alone is worth the price of admission.

What a difference.

New hesalite, talked to a local AD last week and was offered a discount aka unmistakable hint (we’ll find a solution). I’m currently still procrastinating, so not sure if that means 5%, or 10%, or?

Is this the one that fits the snoopy? My OB insisted I tried it on in case I wanted it must say it was comfortable and so much more than the Seamaster one but felt a little thin to me overall

I'm not sure. Pic attached.

is there a particular reason to desire the 1861 over the 3861?

For me, yes:

- hate the clasp on the 3861
- too much bracelet taper on the 3861
- prefer the matte black of the 1861
- 1861 dial overall seems slightly less cluttered to my eye
- 1861 caseback indicates the watch was tested and approved by NASA (by extension from the 861). The 3861 has some subtle variation to suggest NASA has not independently tested it. Small detail, but for a space/nasa fan it made a difference for me
- 1861 movement has 50 years of proven capability as a workhorse without issues (given its basically identical to the 861). It carries more heritage back to the speedmasters used in the 60s/70s and into the 90s shuttle program. I do not care about gaining an extra second or two of accuracy with the new one, as the 1861 did everything perfectly well for such a long time, and the 3861 is so different that the movement doesn’t bare much resemblance to the heritage. The 321 movement is obviously the holy grail movement here, but to me there are also limitations to the Ed White Speedmaster - if only it had twisted lugs and a metal bezel lol.

The above are subtle, subjective, and obviously there is no wrong choice when it comes to a Speedmaster of any kind. Just personal preference.

Omega at full retail makes the Tudor range look like a bargain.

I just got 22% instead of my usual 25-30%. I bet it’s ad dependent, but I doubt they’re stopping.

There will always be discounts on Omega, just look for them. Unless, of course, Omega is able to "pull a Rolex" on us.

Just tried to get the Seamaster NTTD edition and was only given 3% off with the AD when usually I had been getting close to 20% off.
Any recommendations would be great.

This. Rolex demand spilling over to other brands and models. Just bought the Tokyo seamaster. (Pretty much the last one in the UK) so paid list and got some swag and strap thrown in. Chatting to my AD I get my rollies from and he has seen this in his multi brand store. No Rolex’s so other brand stainless steels getting bought. I find it extraordinary after collecting for 20 years that we are where we are. I remember going into stores and being offered a hulk from the window and leaving it behind! I have started buying other brands myself as I am fed up with the Rolex games hence the seamaster (which by the way the quality vs a sub is up there if not more modern/impressive, genuinely happy with a product and where it’s priced vs the sub).

Not surprised on this one. It’s tough to get here in Toronto

What’s interesting about the discounts is that it’s the only way for most models to break even or make a profit so all it does is cheapen the demand

But the discounts could lead to prices rising on the grey market however all I have seen is the moo watch decreased in popularity

Can anyone recommend an AD for this model, where a discount might be feasible?

Why would they sell at a discount if they could get full price?

I hope that Aqua Terra 38mm stays in relative low demand so the discounts will still be offered.

Same thing! Lately I have been getting 22% whereas before it was 25%. Just picked up a NTTD Seamaster and got 22%.

Hello all. What discount to realistically shoot for as a new customer with no purchase history. I have my eyes set on a 3861 speedy with sapphire glass as my new daily watch. Thanks.

Depends on if an AD or a Boutique. No discounts at Boutiques on new releases or hot watches. They will typically throw in a NATO, $160 value. AD's are a different subject and I have read where people are getting from 5-15% on some watches. I would look at our Trusted Sellers, DavidSW website lists several 3861's both new and pre-owned. Call him and negotiate your best price and have the watch the next day by 1200. I own the 3861 Hesilite and think it is great and I bought it from David for a slight decrease in price. Good luck and let us know what you find.

I’ve just bought this watch a week ago in AD here in Tel Aviv, paid full price. I could squeeze a bit but then I should wait for delivery.

Anyway the watch is really good.
