How are you feeling after your 2nd vaccine?

My son who is a Dr. received his second vaccine yesterday am (Moderna).
Later that evening he had chills, fever, and flu like symptoms.
Still felt lousy the following day.
These are some side effects to be expected.

Anyone else get a 2nd vaccine? How are you feeling? Any side effects?

I'm assuming that he had the Pfizer vaccine. Is that correct? Also how old is your son? I hear that age is a factor in reactions to the vaccine.

I will get my second shot on February 5th.

You might want to watch Mike Hensen, MD, on YouTube.

My wife and I are both doctors and got our second shot about two weeks ago. We only had a sore shoulder but nothing else. No chills, fever, or headaches. Hard to tell about fatigue but nothing different than our typical everyday fatigue from work and life. We had the Pfizer vaccine.

Most of the doctors I work with have had mild symptoms (only one didn't have anything) but all of these resolved within a day. I haven't had my second shot yet but will take some tylenol before I get the shot.

Got mine, felt fine. At the suggestion of one of my partners who felt sluggish after dose 2, my other partners and I took Tylenol 1 hour prior. All of us did fine. I’d recommend something of that nature.

I have antibodies, won't be getting mine probably until the fall. I will be getting the Johnson & Johnson dose, one and done.

I had fatigue and my head felt cloudy for about 24 hours after the second vaccine. Most of my colleagues had minimal or no symptoms!

My 90 year old father got his 1st shot a few days ago. That evening he felt a very slight fever but had a restful 8 1/2 hours of sleep and woke up feeling great. The injection sight was a bit sore but didn't hurt to use his arm. He's thrilled to be scheduled for the 2nd shot.

The day following my second dose I was pretty fatigued, especially in the morning. I had generalized muscle aches and joint pain as well. All of that responded well to 400mg of ibuprofen. The following morning I woke up with some tenderness in my armpit and swelling, a less common but well-documented side effect from reactive lymph nodes. That took another day to go away.

I think the public education around the vaccine has been a bit lacking. Not surprising really, as it's been left to hospitals and local health departments with insufficient guidance. There was a good article in the New York Magazine recently regarding this. As we roll out vaccinations to people who aren't in the health sector, we need to go beyond monitoring for an acute allergic reaction. There have already been cases where people were infected with COVID-19 a few days before their vaccinations, and wrote off the symptoms to side effects from the shot. In reality, most side effects should crescendo in the first 24 hours and subside from there. Any lingering or worsening symptoms can't be definitively attributed to the vaccine, and you should still get tested and take proper precautions.

Girlfriend who is also a doctor received her second dose of moderna. She had a slight fever, joint aches and tired.

I agree with Matt above has been a lack of guidance on educating everyone on the vaccines.

With that reaction (i.e., symptomatic in CDC guidance), one would fail screening and be asked to Q for 10-14 days? We know she may be otherwise fine, but coincidental fever would fail at a screening point methinks.

I’m all for the vax plans - can’t participate because all doses for my 1A status are gone for foreseeable future.

Wife and I got 2nd dose Moderna a few hours ago.

I had very slight fatigue a day after the first dose.

Right now just mild injection site pain. I expect some side effects next 36 hours or so, as that would indicate I’m having the appropriate immune response.

Many of my friends have had the Covishield vaccine in India and have not voiced any concerns.

I took my second dose of Moderna vaccine last Friday and noted significant chills and body ache on Saturday, took Ibuprofen thrice and was pretty much back to normal on Sunday. My wife felt worse than me and is back to normal today.

I developed aches around 10 hrs after dose and then mild chills at 14 hrs. 24 hours later, I still have mild muscle aches. Tylenol and ibuprofen.

My wife had same but hers resolved before 24 hrs out.

Pretty mild. I worked all night and will work again tonight. So nothing major.

The J&J vaccine is the vaccine with the most testing data against the SA variant. The test phases were still ongoing when that one picked up steam. Pfizer and Moderna are developing their relevant booster shots to accommodate for the lackluster response to the SA variant. Moderna reported a “six-fold” reduction in effective rate against the SA variant. Six times less effective.. The UK variant didn’t impact current Pfizer or Moderna vaccines as severely.

Just FYI, if you previously had original strand of covid, you have very high chances of becoming re-infected with the SA variant. The antibodies developed aren’t fully capable of preventing an infection of this new variant. This was recently announced within the last day or so. Not sure if everyone has heard yet.

All in all, get vaccinated when you’re able to, but don’t let your guard down. You can still contract w/o sickness and spread asymptomatically.

My wife and her mother have had the Astra Zeneca vaccine, so have a lot of my wife's work colleagues. My wife never felt any effects, her mother had a sore arm and slept all the next day. One of her friends from work felt so bad she nearly took herself to hospital.

How are you feeling after your 2nd vaccine?

Had my 2nd Pfizer shot last Saturday. 40 hours later feeling great. Only some soreness in the injection area. Nothing else. I’m lucky apparently.

The same 2nd shot was far harder on my wife. She a fever & severe cold-like symptoms for about 1.5 days.

I had a sore arm after the second shot that lasted about a day.

Other than that, I had no side-effects at all.

People on the US, how have you had your second vaccine? In the UK we are still on our first dose. Are you paying privately to have it, are you an at risk group etc? Thanks.

Primarily those over 65, those at high risk due to other health conditions and health care workers.

Some are just waiting in line to get whatever is left over as the doses are use it or lose it for the providers.

My wife, (a police officer) felt a little woozy after the first one, but the second one really took a toll on her for about three days. She had the Moderna shot.

I received my second shot at 1:30pm this past Friday. Fine that night and next morning except for a sore arm.

22 hrs. later after the shot, I was very fatigued and then started to get a mild fever 99.6. Took 2 Tylenol and felt fine for a few hours.

Right after dinner around 7pm, my fever came back 100.3 and felt lousy. I went to bed at around 8:30pm and slept through the night until 7 am.

Felt fine ever since.

I was not expecting that. I just had a sore arm after the 1st one for about 2 days. Had the Moderna
