I agree with the comments and believe that the watch is fake.
Sorry.

Another high quality fake...

Thanks everyone for the great help. Got a couple extra questions.

Is it possible to buy genuine spare parts and start replacing the fake parts with real parts. Will this make it a "real" Rolex. Also would it be worth the same and i understand that a lot of it would not be original but i would like to fix it up and keep it. It was a gift after all and i would rather replace the parts and not tell my father it is a fake.

Where would you guys recommend buying spare parts? Any links, guide, tutorial you can direct me to read up on spotting fakes?

Also if i have all spare parts but real genuine Rolex parts, would i be able to make my own Rolex and call it a Rolex?

Thanks again!

Good luck finding an original bare case.

I don't think you'll have much luck finding all the spare parts for that watch... Rolex does not sell spare parts. Not sure even they have the spare parts for this watch. You can't send it to Rolex, as they won't touch a fake watch. Other than with a hammer.

If it was mine, I'd find out what parts (if any) are original, take them out, save them or sell them, and smash the rest to bits. Chances are, that watch will end up somewhere else "as a real Rolex" and this story will repeat itself.

Only good way to deal with a fake is with a sledgehammer. Sad to say it but that is true. Even if you wouldn't sell it, and I'm not indicating you would, there's always the chance of it ending up in the wrong dishonest hands.

Your father already got scammed with a pos fake, if you can't take the rage out of the friend who sold him it, you should take it out on the watch itself.

Yes. All correct variation references from Stefano Mazzariol's Rolex blog.

I am not try to hijack this thread. I am trying to learn. Based on the pictures of known Rolexes, I look at these pictures and the "E" looks correct, but the "6" looks incorrect. What do you think?
