My Rolex GMT 126710BLRO review posted

Rolex’s GMT Master II ref 126710BLRO surprised many when it was introduced at Basel 2018. Combining a new 3285 movement with 10 new patents, a bi-colored red blue ceramic bezel insert, and a Jubilee bracelet makes the GMT 126710 a standout wrist watch and a joy to wear. Rolex honored the past by utilizing a red – blue ceramic bezel insert as well as incorporating a upgraded and redesigned Jubilee bracelet.

Rolex GMT Master II 126710BLRO
Rolex introduced in 2014 the bi-colored ceramic red-blue bezel insert with the all 18k white gold Ref 116719BLRO which created instant demand for a more price accessible stainless steel version. Press outlets reported that Rolex was still perfecting the production process of the red-blue ceramic insert; there was a high defect rate during production. Subsequently, Rolex limited the red-blue insert to the more exclusive all 18k white gold version of the GMT Master.

I have more on the Rolex GMT Master II 126710BLRO as well as more photos posted on my no advertisement website at https://www.minus4plus6.com/126710BLRO.php

Comments and questions welcomed.

This is a very helpful review! Thank you!
Many elements (including a lot of what you mentioned in your article) make me believe a blue ss submariner with updates movement is in order at Basel 2019!!

.

Thank you Sheldon for this review.

You write "... the Jubilee for the Ref 126710BLRO utilizes Rolex’s Oysterlock clasp utilized on the entire GMT line since its introduction in 1956 ..."

What do you mean ?

As far as I know, Oysterlock appeared on Gmt line in 1996 with 78790, and was previously an option with 93150 for a short period of time (94 to 96) .

Excellent review!
Combining aesthetics and technical merits.

Just worried that the spring bar is slightly thinner than it's predecessor.

Oh, wait. Why worry. Can't even have any SS models here in!

Thanks for the review Sheldon.

Thank you for pointing out my error. That’s what I get on going from memory without fact checking.

I made the edit using info from here: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-..._ref_1675.html

Thanks again,

-Sheldon

Look here. The 126710 spring bar is on the right with the 116710 spring bar in the center. Also notice how long the 126710 springbar pin is that recesses into the case.

There were no Oysterlock available in 1959 ... 1st appearance is in 1975 , but for Submariner only (bracelet 9315).

Gmt got Oyster bracelet from the begining in 1954 , but of course not Oysterlock. Oysterlock is a version of the clasp.

For Gmt, Oysterlock clasp was introduced in 1996 with introduction of 78790 Oyster bracelet (after 93150 being furtively an option on Gmt and Gmt2 from 1994 to 1996).

Easylink 5mm extension addon to Oysterclasp was added later in 2005 with ceramic YG Gmt2, not before.

The 9315 and 93150 have been an option since the 1675 and 16750. Most GMTs up until the mid-'90s could be ordered or fitted with that bracelet long before the 78790/78790A appeared. That includes the 16760 and 16700 prior to the 16710 getting the 78790/78790A. It was intended to fit over flight suits using the dive extension.

Many were fitted after the sale by the dealer and therefore wouldn't have left the factory as such.

Small data point but I measured my unpolished 2018 116710LN as follows:

Lug-to-lug: 48.06
Width w/ crown: 44.31
Case thickness: 5.66*
Height: 12.05

*This was taken using calipers and not accurate compared to using mics on a disassembled case.
