* Outdoor Security Camera, Battery, Wifi/SD, InfraRed
Looking for experiences/your reviews of best outdoor camera, battery camera.
Do not have electrical outlet available. So need a good battery operating, weather proof camera. I appreciate your suggestions of what's best (completely wireless) on market you may have or have heard of. Thank you. DM

Don't know anything about these (I have power to all my wireless camera) but I'm thinking about getting 3 of these for areas without power:

This company is awesome.
Fantastic equipment as well as fantastic lifetime support, which I have relied on numerous times and have never failed. Security camera warehouse. Highly recommend them. https://www.security-camera-warehouse.com/ |

......wondering how practical for identification that could be? It has features I do like, though. Thanks a lot, DM

Arlo. All the way. Battery life is good. Even outside. Images are pretty good. Easy to hook up. No power necessary.
Will alert you if you want. We only turn in when we want to know the dog sitter came over and let the super puppers out. Here is the interface/app. 5 cameras are free. Only have to pay if you go over that. And yes, I keep one on the gun/watch safe in the office. Full screen outside camera. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I have no ability to access electricity or to hardwire to a main hub. I can't tear up my walls for hardwiring hookups. Am I misreading its installation requirements? I need battery and wifi/sd capabilities for the locations I need surveilled. Really appreciate your post. Thank you, DM

I was interested in the ArloQ, but I would have to punch a hole in my garage to lower an electrical cord to an outlet. And I need more than one camera on, around house. So ArloQ would be only an option for one area, if I submit to exterior to interior hole to accommodate electrical cord. Thank a bunch. DM

Give them a shout and talk to their team. Everyone is really helpful and can best answer your questions/needs. As background, I went through a couple of companies in the past 20 years as technology evolved. One day, I found this company and haven’t stopped singing praises since then. They recently received recognition. |

These are totally wireless outside of the base station that must be plugged in. I plug in and hardwire directly to my router. I cannot see a model number of the system anywhere but it came with a basestation and 3 cameras/mounts etc. I bought 2 kits and run 5 cameras off of one base station. Keep a camera and the other base station as back up units. Here are he numbers off of the routers and a picture of the camera. Camera is about the size of a nectarine. My (and this is a personal thing) issue with the Arlo is that it's not compatible with other systems. You must user their app and that's it. I get it, "security". The Apple alternative thread should have taught you all I'm a little off and a non conformist.
Arlo is a great product with mass appeal....Costco typically runs specials with extra batteries. |

I am also back to looking at cellular/wifi trail cams, IR black flash, with sd - to install on trees, could use to cover 2 or 3 areas. So many models and need time to research best in 2018.
Any advice about these? Thanks.

I bought a Reolink because of the great reviews... I am not impressed and wish I had gone with the Arlo. The video is mediocre when using the night vision mode and it has a very inconsistent connection to my wi-fi.
A little outside the scope of your question, but since those reading this thread are probably interested in security cameras, stay far away from the Lorex brand! This is one of the worst electronic devices I ever purchased and has terrible customer support. |

Arlo Pro is 200% more reliable than the original Arlo. Arlo Q is 200% more reliable than Arlo Pro, BUT is not wireless. I've used all 3, running the wire to an outlet is worth the reliability.

I run 3 Arlo units that have served me very well. I have no issue with using Arlo’s proprietary app, but that’s me & I understand why some might. I have the same Arlo units shown in an above thread. The only “issue” is they run on battery and batteries eventually fail. However, mine last at least 6 months with intermittent arming. My favorite features of Arlo are the ability to arm any or all cameras remotely and the adjustable motion detection that alerts your cell phone, as well as records a 25 second clip when it senses movement. I may look into their newer models for additional areas outside I’d like coverage for. I’m also looking at Ring and Nest doorbell units for the front door. |

Everyone who posted: Thank you so much for the additional comments.
Currently, for indoor, and not great expense, I am considering the Wyze Cam Pro. https://www.cnet.com/news/the-new-wy...an-is-only-30/ My contractor uses a Samsung camera he bought at Sam's, but its one of three brands he has at his house, which is virtually covered up with cams inside, door entrances, yard, and street views. But, I don't think Samsung will work for me. Thanks again, all who responded. DM

I checked out wyze and it's actually good. But I have to agree with Arlo pro. I just find it so convenient, especially if your place is a bit "busy" . The 2way communication can help if you're away. I think they have better deals now that black friday's coming.

* Outdoor Security Camera, Battery, Wifi/SD, InfraRed
I just bought and installed an Arlo 3-camera system TODAY!
My Brother has one and he recommended it. So far I like it! I'll check back in a month or so and give an update on any Pros/Cons I run into. Good Luck! https://www.arlo.com/en-us/products/arlo/default.aspx

I have Nest indoors and its great for when I'm on vacation but I have a cheaper Lorex camera for outdoors because it has its own monitor which is on constantly and I can see all the time I'm in my office.
The beauty of the systems people are describing here is the phone/computer app, but for me that's also the downside in some respects, because you don't have a constant monitor on all the time to observe your outside spaces. |

So..... found out ATT uverse speed/wifi will not adequately support cameras. Comcast is not an option either at this point. And high fiber is miles away from my house. Hardwiring my house is also not an option due to prohibitive cost of install, and then repairing walls, etc., after dropping lines.
Anyway, thanks for all your suggestions. . . . While I am researching, I found this article today. New patent for camera recognition by Amazon: surveillance categories. https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-...orhood-peoples

We just got Ring video doorbell 2 (completely wireless) but they have other surveillance cameras that you can just add to it both indoor and outdoor both wired and wireless. We might get a floodlight camera for the garage.
https://shop.ring.com/pages/security-cameras We got it from Costco during Black Friday sale and it was around $150 (comes with Chime and one year Cloud storage so you pull up any stored videos/footage at any time). It also has a Ring Community where you can upload, share and inform other people in your neighborhood. https://ring.com/neighbors |

Residents here chat about all the issues they have with less than acceptable, consistent coverage with ATT, Verizon mostly. Most favorite subject next to the weather.

Interesting thread. I have a barn about 100 yards downhill from the house with giant evergreens between completely blocking the view from one building to the other. House has high speed (100 MBPS, "high" for around here) internet with a mesh router. Barn has power BUT all steel siding and no internet hookup (long story, but company's rules would have made it stupid expensive to have).
My wifi signals doesn't reach barn from home router. Security company says I can add up to two cams at barn with some "secret tech" they have that will work wirelessly but I'm not willing to pay the "secret" price. Not worried much about theft, as it's mainly farm equipment (which is all used and insured), but would like a remote way to know the temp inside barn in case furnace fails. Anything new the brains here know about I haven't thought of? |
